I spend the morning doing absolutely nothing, which is unusual for me. I’m nearly always on the go, or getting some training or studying done, but today I just be, and it’s definitely needed.
Ezra joins me again in the afternoon and brings a late lunch with him. Are these guys trying to fatten me up? Crossing my legs underneath me, I sit down on the sofa with my huge sandwich and second slice of cake of the day, and he sits back in the armchair. Looking up from my plate, I catch him watching me.
“What?” I ask, smoothing my hair subconsciously.
“Nothing,” he chuckles. “You’re really fucking cute.”
“Cute?” Bare-faced and in cozy pajamas, it may well be true, but it’s not the first thing you’d like the guy you’re crushing on to say when describing you.
“Yeah. How are you feeling?”
“Okay, thanks,” I say. “It’s not a big deal.” I shrug lightly, not wanting to seem like I’m overexaggerating.
“It sounds like it is. I’ve been learning the tricks of the trade from Sawyer.”
“What does that mean?” I ask suspiciously.
“He was telling me how to help.”
“Which is why you brought carbs and dessert?” I check, eyebrows high.
“Yeah. Is that okay?”
“It’s okay.” I manage to get the words out through my huge grin, wishing like hell I could thank him in a way that included less clothes. The air seems charged, all of a sudden. How do I feel so hot clutching a plate full of cake and bread?
“Stop looking at me like that,” he warns me.
“Like what?”
“Those eyes are going to get you in trouble.”
“Me or you?” I check, not taking them off him. He blows out a breath, and my phone ringing makes me jump. I reluctantly break eye contact and see that it’s Sawyer.
“Hey,” I say to him.
“Hi. I’m just about to go in for my last workout. Sure I can’t tempt you for some training after?”
“Do you want to go to the gym?” I ask Ezra, holding my hand over the speaker.
“Sure,” he answers back. “After you’ve eaten.”
“Okay, fine,” I say back to Sawyer. “But only because you all keep feeding me.”
