“No, you don’t. Whatever it is, it’s not good enough. Not worth her feeling like that.”

“That’s my decision to make,” he says.

“Then man up and stay away from her.” I look into his eyes, and I can see he agrees with me.

“What did I even say?” Nico asks.

“Something about her knowing you were safe and how perfect and yours she was.” His eyes widen and his mouth opens slightly, but he quickly shuts it down.

“I don’t remember,” he says. He’s lying. But why? “I’m gonna go relieve Harlow.”

“No, wait,” Sawyer interjects before Nico heads to the bathroom. “She won’t let you. If anything, she’ll stay there anyway and try to do everything for you so you don’t work too hard. Just let her do this for you.”

“I’m supposed to be helpingher,” Nico emphasizes.

“What, with studying?”

After a slight pause, he nods.

“You can still do that. She did bring your stuff with you, remember?” I certainly remember the hijacking, so I’m sure he does too. Sexy as hell when a woman takes control of the situation like that. “I’m heading out with Ezra, but Harlow would want you to make yourself at home.”

“How about I cook before I go?” Nico offers.

“Good luck getting out of here today, but I’m not going to say no to dinner.”

“If there’s anything you need that they don’t have, check my fridge,” I say as I take a picture of him for our home security software. “Just walk toward my door to get in.”

“What—” Nico starts, but I’m gone, adding his face to our security system on the way so that he can get in keyless if he does need anything. I also send him the app that’ll let him scan for Guards. If he’s determined to head home today, then the least I can do is reassure Harlow that he’s doing it safely.
