“You have no idea.” I give her another kiss, and this time, she deepens it.

“Stop it, baby, if you don’t want me to bend you over that table and fuck you in front of all these people.”

“How about you take me upstairs instead?”

“Your wish is my command.”

“Lead the way,” she says in a flirty tone that always makes my dick twitch.

I lead us through the backyard and toward the entryway. Before we even reach the stairs to my room, we hear gunshots.

“Are those…?” Sophia asks, and my body goes on alert. People start screaming outside. I need to check it out, but I have to find somewhere to keep Sophia safe. It’ll take too long to take her to my room. I’ll leave her in a room down here. But where? Looking to my left, I see a door. That might work. I run, pulling Sophia behind.

“Where are we going?”

Opening the door of a supply closet door, I gesture for her to get in, but she doesn’t move.

“Sophia, for the love of god, get inside. I have to deal with whatever is going on outside. Before I go, I need to make sure you’re safe.” I prepare for an argument from her, but I guess she’s more shaken up than I thought. She walks inside.

“Be careful.”

“Always am.” She gives me a quick kiss.

“Lock the door behind me.” I point my gun in front of me and make my way outside.

The moment I arrive at the scene unfolding before me, the scent of blood hits me. Fuck. Looking to my left, I see a few of my men slumped on the floor. How did someone get past security? We added extra guards for today. Something moving catches my attention. I turn to see a man charging my way. Pulling the trigger, I shoot him in the head. Two more men come my way. I pull my trigger at them, and they drop to the ground. Who comes to a gun show with knives? This whole situation is strange. I make my way to a dark corner, grab my phone, and dial Andrei. He answers within two rings.

“Where are you?”

“Backyard.”

“On my way.”

I manage to shoot two more men before arriving where Andrei is. When I spot him, I see him kneeling over an attacker.

“What the fuck happened?”

“One moment, we were all dancing, and the next, bodies started dropping.” Shit.

“Elena?”

“She’s safe.”

“Sophia?”

“Safe.”

“Frank is waiting for us at the guard house. He’s looking through surveillance.”

“Let’s go.”

When we get to the guard house, everyone is waiting for us. I want to know how someone got past the gates.

“Explain.”

“From what we have seen so far, one of the waiters shot the man at the gate and let in a white non-licensed van,” Frank, one of my spies and the one I placed in charge to train my guards, says.

“Why was only one man stationed at the door?” I grit my teeth.
