“There were more, but the waiter killed them all.”

“So, to understand correctly—one man killed how many men?”

“Six.”

“So, six men you trained were killed, putting our lives in danger?” My lion breaks free. I’m so mad at this incompetent man. He put Sophia's life at risk. He gulps. I raise my gun to his head.

“I’m sor—” Bang.

Pointing at some random guard, I yell, “Find me something. Now,” and he scurries to the computer. Alarms ring in my head. Did Frank say a van?

“Pull the live feed. Find where that van is.” The kid looks through all our feeds, and nothing. Sophia. I need to get to her. I need to know she's safe.

“Find me where the van was parked and where it went,” I say to the kid and look at Andrei.

“Come with me.” I run, not giving him time to say anything, but I know he is guarding my tail behind me. When we arrive where I left Sophia, I see the door wide open and spot one of Sophia’s shoes on the floor as I get closer. Fuck, fuck, fuck, this isn't good. My heart starts beating fast, and my stomach tightens. I peek inside the closet, and it’s a total mess. Brooms are all over the floor, toilet papers are thrown everywhere, and the doorway scatters blood droplets.

Please let that be someone else's blood, not my Sophia’s. I feel the moment my lion snaps at his leash. Screaming at the top of my lungs, I grab the vase from the table by the utility closet and smash it on the floor. I kick the table and punch the walls a few times before Andrei wraps his arms around me and screams in my ear, “Calm down, Maxim!”

“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down. She's gone. Someone took Sophia,” I scream back at him.

“We’ll find her, but we need you to calm and collect yourself to get her back.”

That, I fucking promise. I will get her back. God help those who get in my way because I will kill them all.
