I head into the Pussy Parlor and then stop dead in my tracks. Tonight is my first night and I’m not sure where I should go. My interview was held at a table close to the bar, but now that the place is open with the lights low and customers crowded all around, I freeze up.

The Pussy Parlor is spattered with colors of pink and gold, and for a strip club, it’s not a total dive. There’s a stage up front with some stools surrounding it and a bar runs along one side. A few tables and chairs are scattered around the room.

“Hey, you must be Bristle,” A guy to my left says and I turn to study him.

He looks like he’s in his mid-thirties, with shaggy brown hair that’s in need of a cut, and mossy-green eyes. He has a scar on the right side of his face through his eye and half of his cheek, and I instantly wonder how he got it.

“What are you doing here, Wild?” He asks, his eyes darting over to the man that I can still feel about a step behind me as he addresses him.

“What areyoudoing here, Savage?”

Savage? What the hell is up with the names in this town?

“Hi, do you work here?” I ask, cutting in before these two can start a conversation or a fight.

“No,” Savage says curtly.

Okay…

“The club asked me to show you around. We have a meeting tonight and some of the members needed to get here early.”

“Oh, well yes, I’m Bristle. Please, lead the way,” I say trailing after him as he starts to show me around the club.

“Stage, bar, staff room, office, back exit,” Savage points out quickly and I nod, dodging dancers and waitresses as we head down the short hallway that leads to my office.

“You’ll be in here. Line one will get you to the MC clubhouse if you have any questions. Don’t leave without an escort. We want all of our employees to be safe,” Savage finishes as he leads me into the office.

It’s small, with papers stacked haphazardly everywhere. The desk looks like it’s seen better days with scratches and nicks along the front, but it looks to be solid wood and I know that it will do the trick.

“Good luck,” Savage says as he pushes past Wild and heads for the exit.

“Thanks,” I call after him but I’m not sure that he heard me.

“So, you’re the new manager,” Wild says as I turn away from him.

I set my purse down on top of a filing cabinet and take a seat behind the desk, looking over the piles of envelopes and papers.

“I am. Unless you’re going to call up your friends and get me fired like you threatened,” I retort sassily.

Part of me wants to tell him to get lost, but I’m not sure if he’s one of my bosses or not, since the MC owns the strip club. He seems like he could be a problem for me.Especially since you’re so attracted to him, my subconscious whispers and I shush her.

I look up, expecting him to be irritated or at least somewhat annoyed with my attitude, but instead I find him grinning.

And what a dangerous grin it is.

I can feel my body reacting to it and so I look away, burying my face in the papers and pretending to get to work.

“Have dinner with me.”

My eyes jerk up from the paperwork and lock on his.

“I’m sorry?” I ask, sure that I heard him wrong.

“Have dinner with me. Tomorrow night.”

“Is this some kind of joke?” I ask.

“No,” he says with a smile. “I know that we’re meant to be.”
