Right now, I don’t need a blood bath on my hands.

I also don’t fancy seeing some other man’s hands all over her body.

“And what about me?”

“You’re here for the long haul,” I quip, looking quickly between him and Sebastian. “You’re a matter for another day.”

“Right,” he starts, settling back down. “And Natalia? What about her?”

He can’t help the sarcasm that comes into his words, much like he can’t help the disdain toward me he had the first time we encountered one another.

“You leave that to me.”

While I didn’t want Natalia to find out about Andreas yet, maybe it’ll help having him on side and clearly more than a little contemptuous of her. Clearing my throat, I let them know I’ll be back. While she’s wandering the halls, she’s a loose cannon. One I need to get under control. I leave them to it, knowing I have to find Natalia. There is nothing I can say to calm this storm, but maybe I can cause some damage control before the worst happens.

Trying her room first, I’m not surprised it’s empty. Likewise with the kitchen and the main living room. She’s not stepped near my bedroom yet, but I don’t suppose she’ll be there right now. She’ll want comfort, to seek something familiar while she tries to make sense of things.

Which is why I head for her parents’ area of the building.

Seeing the doors to Nicolas’s old quarters, I know I’ve found her, and I slow my steps so as not to disrupt her. I want to see how she’s reacting, know how close she is to breaking. In being quiet, though, I hear a heavy grunt and hushed words, and I hasten my speed.

The idea of someone being in here alone is enough to enrage me, but the fact I know exactly what’s happening forces my anger to a new level.

Seeing my father and Natalia isn’t what I expected to be confronted with.

Her hands are on him, in his hair, on his shoulder.

His body covers her, pushing her legs apart, holding her down as he kisses her neck.

All I see is red.

Insanity was never a good friend of mine, especially when Natalia was in the mix, but the sight of my father between her legs, his body over hers like mine has been so many times in this lifetime is enough to drive me straight over the edge.

“Well, it didn’t take long for the rumours to get some truth to them.”

My rationale has been a questionable matter for years, but right now, it doesn’t exist.

“Beckett,” my father gasps, putting space between him and Natalia.

Natalia, meanwhile, pushes herself up, her black curls falling around her face, framing away the shame as she pulls her blouse to cover up while pulling her legs up close to her chest.

“She came onto me, son. I’m sorry. I thought she was fair game.”

My anger toward my father is one that pales in comparison to mine for Natalia, but it’s one I won’t be able to stow away any faster. Everything I was told suddenly comes into hyperfocus, and I can’t rid the mental assault of my darling girl writhing in pleasure under my father’s touch.

“Hope you did it better than I ever could.”

My bitterness hits the air sounding a lot like hurt.

I lost myself between her legs multiple times since she came home, something I vowed never to do, and while I was prepared to cast her out and keep her at arm’s length, I was naïve. I was a fucking fool. She was intoxicating, and I knew that while I wanted to destroy her, I wanted to explore everything Natalia is now she’s a grown woman.

Seeing her with my father is the clarity I fought because of denial, but now I can’t look away. And from her stance, she’s not helping matters. Natalia hasn’t dared look at me yet, not even uttered a word in defence, her shame shown in the way she hangs her head.

In fluid motions, my father buckles his trousers up and moves across the room. He keeps his back to her, allowing me to see her over his shoulder as he pauses in front of me.

“She came onto me,” my father argues again, casting a quick glance over his shoulder to Natalia. “I wanted to say no, but before I knew it, she was kissing me.”

“It looked a lot like you were onto her.” My defensiveness is a knee-jerk reaction I can’t stop.
