“Goddammit, Natalia!” I bellow. “I’d make you suck me off just so that smart arse mouth of yours is occupied!”

The salacious little grin she gives me in response to that is intoxicating, but I shake my head and rub away the impending hard-on.

Throwing my hands to my head, I shake with agitation. “Fucking hell, what are we doing?”

She blinks owlishly at me for a moment, as if I’ve asked the stupidest question I could think of. “What we always do.”

“What we always do?” My question is purely rhetorical. “I haven’t seen you for almost a decade. This isn’t something we always do.”

I can tell from the tension in her jaw she’s biting her cheek. It’s her way to keep her temper in check when she really needs to.

“You and I were always doing some sort of dance. Even when we were madly in love, we still bounced off each other. It used to drive our dads mad.” She squares up to me, her shoulders set as straight as her mouth. “So, don’t tell me this isn’t something we always do.”

“We aren’t picking up where we left off, darling girl. It’s not that easy.”

“I’m very well aware of that.” Suddenly her demeanour falters and she looks like she’s given up the fight—at least for tonight. “You know what? Whatever, Beck. I’ll see you in the morning.”

I let her go, but it doesn’t feel right to let her leave when there are still so many unasked questions.

“Are you still annoyed with me over Cassie?”

I can’t believe I’m even entertaining this, but I feel like there’s enough shit for us to wade through that we need to clear at least one thing away.

I don’t need to look to know Natalia’s frozen mid-step.

“Well?” I ask, turning to face her. “Are you?”

“You’ve slept with her.”

I’m not sure if that’s a question or a statement, but either way, it’s the truth, and Natalia can have every detail of that fact.

“Yes.”

My admittance has her turning to face me. “Multiple times?”

“Yes.”

My confirmation lights something up in Natalia’s eyes. A quick flash of pain wrapped in hurt fleetingly fills her eyes before she rolls it away. Throughout our school years and after, Cassie would chase me like a lovesick puppy. I never wanted her and, even now, she’s a means to an end—a willing one at that.

“Does that upset you?” I ask her, cocking a brow. “Because it shouldn’t.”

It doesn’t matter who’s hand my dick’s been in or which pussy I buried it in. Natalia’s right to me died a crushing death when she left. The effect she has on me, however, is another matter.

“Would it upset you to know I’ve been with other men?”

The bitterness in her shows she’s jealous of Cassie, and part of me inwardly laughs. Knowing she cares means there’s still hope for me to break her. I’m not going to do it by flaunting Cassie in front of her. That’s too easy.

“No,” I utter, drawing her close to my aching body. “But only because I know no one ever did it better than me, darling girl.”

“You sound so sure.”

“I know all the ways you come undone for me.”

It’s true.

I do know how to unravel Natalia. I doubt time or distance has changed that.

The constant thrum of energy between us tells me exactly what I need to know, and because of that, Natalia knows everything she needs to as well.
