We both sat a moment in the soft grass and pine needles, clothes disheveled and giggles fading. His smile was broad, kind, and melted my heart.

I only wish we had more time together. Even if it was supposed to be a silly one-off.

Well, I mean, only one of us genuinely got off...

“Lana, I am so sorry.” Hayden said, sitting back hard on his butt and splaying his hands behind him, his deep voice pulling me from my silly thoughts. He let out a small chuckle that ended with a sigh. “And the fun was just beginning.”

He tucked his clothes back in order as best he could before standing. I watched as his body moved as lithe and strong as the mountain lion who was hunting me not long before. He stood above me, all thick muscle, rugged good looks, and nearly godly glory.

With a smile, he reached out a hand. “Come on, let’s get going before he comes down the trail.” Hayden helped me up, brushing the pine needles off my back and helping me put myself back together.

When I turned to see him again, he smiled at me, those green eyes drilling into my very soul, a grin playing across his kissable lips.

“Can I kiss you, just Lana?” He asked, voice deep, which rumbled like a storm. My heart bounced into my throat, catching me off guard.

Kiss me?Again?

I felt a nervous sweat wash over my skin. It was supposed to be just the one fling. It was fun and exciting, but just the once.

“Hayden, it is just supposed to be the one time.” I reminded him of our little agreement we had made in the heat of the moment. He was so close to me I could feel his lips brush against mine. “No strings attached.” I whispered, desperate not to get lost in his kiss.

“Well, maybe I want strings.”
