I said, “Magnus and Fraoch? I dinna see yer names on the ancestry site, though... now I think on it, there was a Magnus but...”

Magnus said, “I was named for him, he was Sean’s half-brother.”

Fraoch grinned. “And ye winna see me on the family tree, I hae kept m’identity hidden, ye canna be too cautious.”

I gestured toward him, sayin’ tae Blakely, “See?”

“I do see, I see your cousins are just like you.”

Magnus continued, “We hae come tae an agreement with the Riaghalbane Royal Company, and hae created a consortium. We are usin’ it tae buy Balloch — I mean, Taymouth castle.”

I blinked.

Magnus added, “We... the cousins and the consortium, are askin’ ye tae be the face of the company. We wish ye tae take the title and deed, and tae own and operate the castle as the lord.”

Quentin said, “Or the CEO, the guy who runs it.”

I blinked some more.

Blakely said, “What the...?”

James pushed the papers toward Blakely and she began flipping pages and scanning the text.

I shook my head. “I’ve got no money, what would I hae tae bring tae it?”

Magnus smiled. “Naethin’, naethin’ at all, nae really, we just want tae keep it in the family.”

Quentin said, “It’s our way of honoring Sean Campbell’s name.”

“And just to be clear, who is we? Who is they?”

Fraoch said, “Us, the cousins, the consortium, ye ken, we want tae buy the castle.”

I looked at Blakely, she looked at me. She said, “This is absolutely crazy, I mean, we would have to look this over, talk to a lawyer... how long do we have?”

Magnus said, “We hae all the time in the world, take as long as ye need—“

James said, “But seriously, think on it, this is a good deal.”

I leaned forward, “Honestly, if I am tae own the castle, why? Why daena one of ye be the owner?”

Fraoch said, “Och, we are too busy with... ye ken, we hae... fishin’ and...”

James said, “None of the cousins would be able to live there, and they want someone to—”

Magnus interrupted, “Even if ye board it up, even if ye hae nae use for it, we want ye tae hae it.”

“That’s a huge expense, seriously, what’s in it for ye?”

The men shrugged. Magnus said, “ We want it tae remain in the family, tis enough, and I made a promise.”

“Tae who?”

“Tae a brother, ye ken, but that part is nae important. I want tae keep the castle in the family and ye are the owner and operator of a fine business a’ready...”

As Magnus said it, James looked around with an amused expression.

Magnus finished, “It made sense tae hae ye be the lord.”
