“Nah, I got paperwork to do. Keep me informed,” he replies before heading out the door.

Everyone changes, and we’re on our way to the pool when we meet my mom in the lobby.

“Daniel, the rooms below us, the suites. One for my mother and one for Remo,” I tell him and he produces the key. I keep the top two places vacant for me and family. And now for a safe house from an asshole who is hellbent on ripping my family apart.

“Viktor said to call him,” Tristan says.

“Mom, go with Daniel up to the room. Kids, do you want to swim?”

“But we didn’t bring suits,” Donatello says.

“Well we can go to the store over there and get you some,” Briar whispers.

“Did they catch the asshole that did that?” Timothy asks and Remo rolls his eyes.

“We talked about language,” Remo states.

“Sorry,” Timothy says as he follows his dad and Briar into the gift shop.

“Mommy told us that you’re not our real dad,” Donatello says and I want to ring my sister’s neck for this. She told her kids? What the fuck?

“I raised you, I’ll always be your father,” Remo reassures Donatello.

I make a note to find out who that is. The man might not even know. And if he takes the kids when he finds out, I will make sure Remo is still in their lives.

Donatello and Timothy run off with the guys as we watch. I can feel the sadness radiating off Remo.

“I promise we will fix this.” I tap Remo’s shoulder.

“I know. I just can’t believe that I might not see them,” he says.

“We don’t know what’s going to happen. Let’s take one day at a time. First thing is to get rid of Lane,” I seethe.

“I’m with you on that,” Remo agrees.

“Let’s relax and we’ll talk in the morning,” I say as we head out to the pool and watch the kids.

As Briar plays with the kids, I pull the guys to the side and call Viktor and put it on speaker.

“What the fuck, King?”

“I was clueless to all this,” I state.

“Tana is clearly upset by all of this. You want me to find the dad?”

“Yes. And Vik, we need to double down on this Lane shit. He’s made a fucking mess of things. I’m not sure how we’re holding it together,” I admit.

“I’ll send the jet in the morning. I know you need to be here on the 29th anyway. Come tomorrow morning, we will start to put things together. I’m sorry, Remo,” Viktor says.

“Thanks. I should have seen it coming,” Don says.

“No one could predict things with Embry, but Lane- we all saw that he was a bad seed,” Viktor says.

“Except me,” I admit.

“You might seem like a badass but you also try to see the good in people. Lane was never good and if you think back on the years you’ve known him, you will start to remember things,” Viktor points out. I think I plan on doing just that, maybe I’ll figure out why Lane is the way he is.

“See you guys tomorrow afternoon,” Viktor hangs up.
