“I don’t have any clothes here,” Remo says after Vik hangs up.

“Fuck it, we’ll get you new shit in New York. You’re the same size as me, I have some things you can borrow,” I tell him.

“Why would you help me?” Remo asks and I blink as I stare at him.

“You’re still family,” I tell him, “always will be.”

“Thanks, man,” he says thankfully.

“Anytime. I think the kids are tired and it is late,” I help Briar out of the pool and usher the kids into the elevator.

“Get some rest, we leave for New York in the morning,” I tell them and they cheer. They love visiting New York. And Tana will have fun activities to keep them entertained.

“In the morning?” Briar asks and I shake my head up and down.

“See you guys in the morning,” I wave them off and then type a text out to Holden and Caleb. I haven’t heard from them since this morning. Though they might have just gone to their apartment.

Holden calls me back.

“What’s up?”

“Just wanted to check in with you, thought you were coming back here,” I say.

“We decided to chill at the apartment, seems like you needed family time,” he replies.

“We’re leaving in the morning, be here at nine,” I tell him and I hear him groan.

“We’ll be there,” he agrees before hanging up. I don’t care if he is here or not. If they aren’t, they don’t go.

I crawl in bed with Briar and wrap my arms around her.

“I was scared when Lane approached us.”

“I’m sorry that I couldn’t be there to keep you safe,” I whisper into her hair.

“Remo kept me safe, helped me.”

“That’s good. He’s a good guy to have in your corner.”

“Everything will be okay,” she whispers right before drifting off to sleep.

I sure hope so.

I wake up early and see that we have a few hours before the flight, so I shower and dress before going out to the kitchen and making some highly needed coffee.

I’m too tired to make breakfast so I order a whole spread and set the table.

“Morning,” Tristan says and I jump. I guess all of this has me a little jumpy.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” he says.

“It’s okay. Coffee?”

“Please,” I pour him a cup of coffee.

“I ordered breakfast,” I tell him as he sips his coffee.
