Page 119 of Fighting For Her Love

“You took my girl,” he states.

“That’s hilarious. You were a dick to her when you met her, calling her the help,” I seethe.

“She was mine first,” he seethes.

“It was a dick thing to say. I love her and she loves me. Stop being a pussy and grow up,” I hiss. I know that I’m pissing him off more, but I give zero fucks about it.

“You will regret you ever said that to me. She looks pretty in her jeans and boots. Her top is a little tight, though,” he replies blankly.

“Stay away from her, Lane,” I warn him.

“Make me,” he snarls right before hanging up on me.

I will keep this to myself for now, I don’t want to scare Briar. He won’t do anything with all the press and security, at least I hope he doesn’t. I exit the room and see that Aiden is talking to Briar and Thorn.

“Aiden.”

“Kingston.”

I see Aiden wink at Briar who giggles and I almost snarl at him, like a feral dog.

“This is for show?” he asks for clarification.

“Try to keep a straight face,” I snort.

“I will put on my best show. I was probably meant to be an actor anyway,” he says, grinning.

I take Briar’s hand and lead her into the ballroom where the weigh-in will occur. We stand on the scale and our weight is recorded. Then we pose for the promo picture. Aiden and I hug after the picture. It’s no secret that we’re good friends. A couple of cameras capture this moment, but neither of us care.

“Would you like to join us for dinner?” I ask him as we head back down the hall.

“How about you all come to my house for dinner,” he replies, and I stop in my tracks.

“You cook?” I ask, surprised.

“Yes, King. I can cook,” he chortles with a roll of his eyes.

“Learn something new every day,” I chuckle.

“Watch it,” Aiden warns with a smile.

“What time would you like us over?”

“Let’s say seven. I’m also having a New Year’s Eve party as well. I know the fight is the next night, it won’t be big. I didn’t know what you had planned. Everyone is invited,” he says.

“Sounds fun. I’ll talk to them and see what they want to do first,” I say.

“See you guys later,” he runs off to change.

“That’s a tall drink of water right there,” Briar mutters to herself.

“Say that again, sweetheart?” I tease.

“You know what I mean,” she waves her hand around, trying to dance around it.

“You can say whatever you want, just know who you’re going home with,” I say.

“I could never forget you,” she smiles at me.
