“Why does Tristan look like he’s going to explode?” Aiden asks.

“Lane called him on the ride over,” I say, “when Briar was in the car.”

“What?”

“He was trying to push my buttons, threatening me,” Tristan snaps. He doesn’t mean to snap at us, but I know he’s angry.

“He called me right before weigh-ins and even told me what Briar was wearing,” I add.

“God, this guy is relentless,” Aiden growls. He’s never been a fan of Lane.

“Yeah, and a psycho,” I agree.

“I can see that. Take a breather, he won’t get in here. You should call Viktor and see if he can send some extra men for Briar’s safety,” Aiden says.

“They will be shadowing us starting tomorrow,” I say.

I go in search of Briar and find her with her brother, laughing and having a good time. They deserve times like these.

Aiden is the perfect host and dinner is exceptional. He can really cook.

Piper and Briar are smitten with him, but who wouldn’t be? He’s a walking Roman God.

“See you at the fight tomorrow,” Aiden says as we leave.

We’re in the lobby as everyone takes their leave and I turn to Briar.

“I’m taking you to a show tonight,” I say.

“As in Broadway?” she squeals when I nod, causing me to laugh.

“Yes, I had Carla find a dress for you. It should be in the room,” I tell her.

“Of course you did,” she says with a chuckle, “but you didn’t have to.”

“I wanted to. Let’s change so we can make the late show,” I say.

“Okay,” she lets me lead the way.

“Tomorrow I have a surprise for everyone and we’ve been invited to Aiden’s for a party,” I say.

“You’re too good to me, to all of us,” she says.

“I like seeing you smile,” I kiss her cheek before putting on my suit.

“You can always thank me later,” I say as an afterthought.

“Oh, I will, properly,” she grins.

“I know you will,” I take her hand and kiss it and then her ring. I’m one lucky man.
