Once the introductions are over, we’re ready to head inside after I get the tickets.

“Thorn?” I call him over.

“What’s up?” he steps beside me.

“Here, in case you need it,” I slide a couple hundred dollar bills into his hand.

“King, this is too much,” he protests. Just like his sister.

“Just take it and make sure you have your phone on in case we need to contact you,” I tell him and he rushes off with the guys.

I chuckle watching him go. I look over and see my sisters and mother talking with Briar and laughing. I smile. I gesture for her to come over, taking her hand and intertwining our fingers, “Let’s go have some fun.”

“Have fun, kids,” Tana yells after us and I just chuckle.

I hold on to my girl and show her a good time.

We stop for coffee because to Briar, coffee is life. We walk hand in hand, taking pictures and laughing.

By the time we make it around to the front, we’ve screamed and laughed on almost every ride.

I make a note to myself to make her a photo album for her memories.

The break-in and Lane are still on my mind. I know the break-in is connected to Lane.

But for now, I’m having fun.

We wander through a gift shop, and I watch her eyes light up on a necklace, a diamond Mickey necklace. I want to see that all the time. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way about a girl, and I want to make her happy forever.

When she walks away, I buy it for her and matching ears for us to wear.

Briar

“You didn’t have to buy me this,” I object as he hands me the necklace.

“I wanted to,” he smiles down at me.

He must have seen me looking at it. It’s lovely and also expensive.

He’s already spent too much. He won’t take no for an answer, helping me put the necklace on.

We walk around some more and I’m having so much fun. I love his family, his mom is a riot. I can see where King gets his charm. I’ve never had friends before, but his sisters are welcoming and sweet.

It’s all kind of overwhelming.

Since it’s close to Christmas, the park is all decorated for the season. It’s actually only a week away and I don’t know what I’m going to get Thorn…or Kingston. I mean I should get him something, right?

He did call me his girlfriend.

But I really want to give Thorn a good one, I’ve slacked on the last few. I’ll have to use my tip money and buy him something nice. Might not be much but he will understand, it’s the thought that counts.

“What’s wrong, sweetheart?”

“Just thinking,” I smile up at him.

“About?”

“Honestly?”
