Astheyboardedthe plane, Nav carried Lexie’s bags, much to her protest. He had arranged for her to sit in first class again, but this time right beside him. She protested that, too, but he was able to convince her with a single kiss upon her smooth lips. Much easier than he expected it to be, quite frankly.

They settled into their seats and Lexie reached for his hand. He turned and smiled at her, squeezing the tiny hand in his own. Each of them had settled in with earbuds, ready for a nap on the way home. He rested so much more comfortably this ride, knowing it was his Lexie Lou he’d wake up to upon landing.

As they reached the international airport, they linked hands together and walked toward baggage claim, waiting to rush home to the reality of what their new life would look like together. He couldn’t hear the conversation between them but watched as Eagle punched Adam in the arm before laughing himself. He shook his head and glanced over at Lexie, thankful to have her by her side through all of this. He could see their future playing out in his mind. They would date for several months, living apart, until one of them would propose moving in with the other. Things got complicated in his mind when he rolled over that because he didn’t want to imagine making Lexie choose between leaving the house she built with Oliver and starting a new life with him in Etville. There was only so far he could live outside of town limits with his job and responsibilities as a fireman.

His thoughts were interrupted as a familiar screech reached his ears. He stopped dead in his tracks and his heart began to thud heavily. He dropped Lexie’s hand out of pure shock as the one person who could unravel everything he and Lexie had started to build ran toward him in the airport terminal.
