By the timeTrent got the fire blazing high, everyone that had been invited was already there, and the ‘party’ was in full swing. I sat on a log near the fire, laughing as Trent tried farting into the fire. He’d had a bit to drink already, and every time he drank and we had a fire, he attempted to make flames shoot the other way.

“You’re going to catch your ass on fire,” I laughed at him. “Please stop before we have to rush you to the hospital.”

“He always like this?” Seth asked me, dropping down beside me and handing me a soda.

I nodded. “Unfortunately.” I smiled over at him. “Wouldn’t ever ask for a different brother, though.”

Seth laughed as Trent lost his footing, almost falling into the flames. My heart dropped to my feet, but he caught himself, a laugh booming from his chest. “Close call, everyone. All’s good here.”

I rolled my eyes, blowing out a harsh breath as I did so. My brother was an idiot.

Jackson suddenly appeared right in front of me, and before I could stop him, he grabbed my shoulders and pressed a kiss to my lips, darting away right after when Seth reached out to grab his arm. Trent managed to trip him up though, sending Jackson face-first to the ground.

“Stop fucking with my sister, kid,” Trent told him.

Seth wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to his side. I inhaled the scent of him, relaxing against his side though I had a billion questions running through my head, the number one question being what in the fuck was going on right now?

Sucking it up, I decided to do my classic Bailey thing and pry. “I’ve got a question,” I said quietly.

“What is it?” Seth asked, his voice just as quiet as laughter rang out around us, no doubt my brother doing something else completely stupid. It was honestly a miracle he was still alive.

“Are we . . . together?” I timidly asked.

Seth trailed his fingers down my arm and back up again, sending shivers racing down my spine. “Yeah,” Seth drawled like I was stupid. I shot him a scowl. He looked down at me, and amusement rang in his firelit eyes at the look on my face. “You didn’t get the hints?” he asked. “I’ve been dropping them all fucking afternoon.”

I rolled my eyes. “You ever heard of just asking a girl?” I asked.

“Not my style, babe,” he bluntly told me.

“You’re such a dick,” I whispered as I stared at the flames in front of me.

Seth pressed a kiss to the top of my head that made my heart skip a beat in my chest.

“You wouldn’t have me any other way, baby.”

I hated that he was so fucking right.
