“How much more time?” he frowns. “Khushi we've known each other for six years. And it's not that I'm requesting anything you've never given me before.”

This subject always makes me nervous, but I keep a confident expression on my face and stare at him.

“Rudra, you know we had a rift in our relationship and until that’s sorted, I can’t get close to you again.”

He exhales fiercely before returning his attention to the food. I watch him eat the rest of his meal quietly as if I were not present at the table.

“Alright,” I concede this time. “Let’s finish the Mumbai work and when we are back in the USA, you’ll get your girlfriend by heart, soul and… body.”

His face glows reading the meaning behind my words.

“That sounds like a superb plan.”

He grabs my hand over the table, and I pat him away so I can return my attention to the food.

“However, it’s going to be a tough time,” I add. “Taking over AR Group is not that easy. Especially after what happened at the party yesterday.”

He nods.

“I too never expected Aarav Raichand to show up. That man really has a distinct arrogant aura.”

I chew my food recalling Aarav’s intense eyes again.

“He doesn't give me good vibes,” I murmur.

“Certainly not,” Rudra agrees. “He behaved like a psycho when he broke that glass in his palm and attempted to shake hands with you.”

Rudra is not getting it. Aarav wasn’t trying to shake hands with me. He wanted to touch me. Take me in his arms. I am 100% sure that’s why he extended his hand towards me, shocking me to the core. It’s not that he hasn’t seen beautiful women then why was he so eager to touchme?

“I’ve a meeting scheduled with the AR Group today.”

Rudra’s voice breaks my trance.

“Cool, I’ll be there to attend it.”

“No,” he interrupts. “I don’t want you anywhere near that Aarav Raichand again.”

“What?” I groan. “Rudra you are forgetting this ismystrategy. I can’t let you lead alone. And besides, stop acting like a jealous boyfriend.”

“I’m not jealous but that man is weird and you can’t handle him. Let me deal with him please.”

“Why can’t I handle him? Only because he is young, handsome and totally capable of charming any woman?”

Rudra leans back on his chair, staring at me, with surprise.

“Did you just praise him, Khushi?”

“So?” I shrug.

“You never praise anyone so easily. I don’t remember you ever calling me charming.”

Oh! I sip the orange juice in one go and set the glass down, nervously.

“Perhaps you should start charming me more. And coming to Aarav Raichand, I’ll deal with him my way. You don’t need to worry about that.”

Getting up, I grab my purse again.

“I’m leaving early. Have a few key things to take care of before we meet the AR Group today.”
