She giggles and my smile is back. Jaya presses my hand over the table.

“Two years are more than enough for any man to move on in life, Jhanvi. I can confidently say even Aman would have found solace in another woman had I been gone from his life. But Aarav? He only loved you and no matter what, he could never give that place to anyone. You are so lucky to have a partner like him. Aarav is not the kind of man that every woman gets to cherish. It takes numerous births and uncountable blessings to have a man like him love you.”

Every word she says strikes a chord in my heart. Maybe I’m seeing Aarav in a different light so far and that needs to be changed. But again, it’s too soon.

“You sound like Aarav’s fangirl at the moment.” I tease her though I don’t know how she’ll react to it. We might be friends, but I don’t have memories of what kind of friendship we had.

Jaya laughs heartily.

“That I’m, and you’ll find thousands more who are swooned by your husband. He is one of a kind. You don’t remember this but way back then you were very possessive of him too. Whenever any woman gawked at him, we all could feel the heat emanating out of you. Poor Aarav, he always had a hard time pacifying you. Once you told me you liked to fake being angry at him for no reason, because he had a unique way to maneuver you. With kisses and quickies.”

Really? Quickies with Aarav Raichand? How? How can a woman be satiated with only a quickie when the man himself is a god of seduction? What the hell am I thinking? These images of Aarav slamming inside me pinning me to the wall flashes before my head and I don’t even know if this is just my imagination or a flashback of my past? Aarav told me staying around the family will help me gain my memories faster. If this scene wasn’t just a figment of my imagination and is a part of our past life, then I can well imagine what kind of passion we shared between us. With that kind of quickie, we could even burn down the whole house.

Jaya’s phone buzzes, breaking my trance and she looks a bit startled before answering the call.

“Hey, Aarav.”

Aarav? Why is he calling her?

“Yes, we are still out. Don’t worry, I’m dropping them first before asking your driver to drop me home.”

Oh! So, he called to check on me and Aarvi. He could have called me instead. I hate the way he is ignoring me so royally these days.

“Yes, Aarvi ate and so did your wife.” Jaya winks at me while responding to my husband. “You too take care. Bye.”

She disconnects and then laughs the moment she sees me again.

“What?” I snap.

“Look at your face. You are so jealous that he called me, not you.”

“Oh please.” I roll my eyes, sipping my coffee which has gone cold. “I wouldn’t have answered his call, he knows that. So, he didn’t call me but you.”

“Don’t give me excuses, Jhanvi. I can tell you when you are lying. That’s what best friends are for.”

I sigh. She is right. I am jealous but I don’t want to draw any further conclusion on this.

“Do you know what’s happening with the Sikand Charity Trust?”

Jaya is as blank as I am.

“Umm no. Why?”

“Something is happening there and Aarav is not telling me anything. He wants to deal with it himself.”

“And you want to handle it because it’s your responsibility, not his. Right?”

I nod. Sikand Charity Trust is really doing a fabulous job by supporting single mothers and I’ve read how much effort I have put into it ever since I’ve started this. Though I have no memories, I still feel responsible for it just like I am responsible for Aarvi.

I tell Jaya to find some information from Aman on it and then let me know. I want to be updated with everything happening in that Trust with or without Aarav’s knowledge, I don’t care. She agrees.

CHAPTER 28

Aarav

Our respective cars reach the AR Mansion almost at the same time. I open the door for Jhanvi and Aarvi is the first one to hop from the car to show me the teddy bear she bought.

“Daddy see, Mommy got me a Teddy.”
