ChapterTwenty-Two
FELIX
“Please,” Gemma begged, and gave me that pouty look again.
I shook my head and rubbed my towel over it. After our swim in the lake, we put our clothes in the dryer and got a shower. We might have gotten sidetracked with a quickie when we got upstairs, though.
“Nope, not telling,” I said as I dried off.
She dropped her towel, showing off her long and athletic body, but I knew that trick, and it wouldn’t work on me.
I gave her a quick kiss. “Nope. Get dressed, so we don’t miss our reservation.”
She knitted her eyebrows together. “Reservation? Oh, Felix, you know I don’t need fancy.”
I cupped her face and gave her a gentle kiss. “Let me.”
“You need to tell me. What if I’m not dressed well enough?”
“You’re fine,” I said and walked into the bedroom.
I wasn’t taking her to a place that was so fancy I needed to wear a suit and tie. Last night, Harper told us about the farm-to-table restaurant at the local inn Keisha took her to on their first date. It sounded amazing, and I knew Gemma would like it. I checked it out online earlier when Gemma had been out in the kayak. It was in a cool craftsman-style lodge, and the menu looked interesting. They also had a massive beer list, which Gemma would love.
I owed her a good date after I messed up our first one.
I started putting my clothes on while Gemma stood in the bathroom doorway, naked and rubbing her towel over her head. I put on my nice pair of jeans and a black button-down shirt.
Gemma cocked her head at me curiously. “So not too fancy?”
I shook my head. “No. The dress you wore the other day’s fine.”
“Okay…so not too fancy, but you still won’t tell me.”
“Surprise,” I teased.
“Mean!”
“Get your sweet ass ready.”
She cocked an eyebrow at me. “Or what?”
I mirrored her expression. “You know what.”
“Will you put me over your knee and spank me like the brat I am?”
“Maybe…”
“Or choke me a little harder?”
I rubbed a hand across my beard. “Both, if you don’t get your ass in gear.”
She laughed. “Okay, okay!”
Gemma thought for a moment and then pulled out a long white dress with sunflowers on it. It was casual yet still made her look like the most gorgeous woman in the room. I watched her dress as I combed my hair and replaced my eyebrow piercing with a black gauge that matched my shirt.
“Did that hurt?” Gemma asked.
I shook my head. “Not much. Like a pinch and then some pressure.”
