“I have an idea,” Gabbi smirked.

If last night was any indication, the way Matthew had pressed against me, the way I knew he wanted to come inside my apartment…

But at least, after this, neither one of us could say we were just friends.

I knocked on the door to his office. I knew his last class of the day had already gotten out, and I hoped that he was there.

He’d been on my mind all weekend, even more so after I left lunch with my friends on Saturday. And now, here I was, standing outside his door on Monday afternoon because I thought I might go crazy if I had to go one more day without seeing him.

“Come in,” his voice came through the door, and I took a deep breath before opening it.

As I slipped into his office, the short heels of my boots clicked against the tile floor. For a moment I just stood there, hand still on the doorknob as I stared at him from the doorway. Then I cleared my throat, enjoying the way his eyes trailed up and down my body, and smiled at him. “Professor Harper.”

“Miss Hastings?” Matthew raised an eyebrow in question at me.

I finally closed the door behind me and flipped the lock. There was no point in risking anyone catching us in here alone together. I leaned against the door as I watched him.

Matthew, no longer sitting, was leaning against the desk, arms crossed over his chest. He looked perfectly relaxed, the complete picture of comfortable and confident all at once. His blonde hair was combed back today, just a single piece falling onto his forehead.A little single curl that I wanted to reach out and brush back.

Patience, Noelle, I tried to give myself a pep talk. You have a plan. A plan that involved a red lacy underwear set, but I didn’t argue that back with the wisest part of my conscience. I snorted at the thought, and Matthew just stared at me as I resisted laughing at myself. Instead, I just admired how good he looked leaning against his desk.

“And what can I help you with today, Miss Hastings?”

“Oh. Well, you see, Professor…” I smirked at him and played with the hem of my skirt. My very, very short skirt. “I seem to have a problem, and as it turns out, only you can solve it.”

He raised an eyebrow and rose off the desk to take a step toward me.“And what might this problem be?” He trailed off, looking straight at me.

We had grown closer over the last two months, and after all of those possibilities of something, all of that want, well… I was tired of fighting this.

“You.” I breathed.

“Noelle…” I looked at him with a tilt of my head. “Me?” he simply asked, and I just smiled sweetly, looking up at him while batting my eyelashes.

“Yes, Matthew,”I repeated. “You are my problem.” I could feel the warmth creep through my body, my pulse racing as he took another step toward me.

I needed this. Needed him.

He hummed. “And do you… have a solution to this problem of yours, sweetheart?”

“I have a few ideas, but I’m open to suggestions… Sir.”

I took a step back as he took another forward, finally ending with my back pressed up against the door as his body was now only a breath apart from mine. I was close enough to catch a whiff of his cologne, the strong and masculine scent so seemingly him that it filled all of my senses.

“My sweet little Noelle. Did you come here just to tempt me?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I breathed, hand moving towards his body. I wanted to touch him. He was so close. I just wanted to taste his lips again, to feel his breath on my neck. I wanted all of him, every last thing he would give me. I would let him have whatever he wanted if he only asked for it.

“Sweetheart,” he said, lips only inches from my forehead. “My little temptress. Do you know how much I think about you? I can’t get you out of my goddamned mind.”

I tilted my head up as his hand found my face, cupping my chin. “No,” I breathed. “Tell me. Tell me how much you think about me.”

“You vex me,” Matthew said, and then he crashed his lips onto mine, once again giving in to the pull we felt between us. “You enchant me.” He placed a kiss on my lips. “I think you’ve placed a curse on me because all I want is you.” I thought again how strange it was that his lips against mine just felt so right. I tried to remind myself who he was to me, that he was a professor, but all I could see was the warm and kind man who had helped me with my project, taken care of me when I was drunk and made sure I was getting enough sleep. None of that mattered anymore, because we were here, and he wanted me. I knew he wanted me.

“I couldn’t sleep,” I said, pulling back as my hands grasped the collar of his shirt. “Ask me why I couldn’t sleep, Matthew.”

“Why couldn’t you sleep, Noelle?”
