“Your brother bought you a condo, sweetie,” Mom said excitedly.

“What? Are you serious?”

“Study hard, Morg. Make me some art.” I stood when Morgan made his way over to me and hugged me.

“Hollis, man, thank you.”

He let go of me and then turned and hugged Patrick.

“Thank you, Patrick.”

“Your speech was great, Morgan. Congratulations.”

Chase put a rectangular box wrapped in tissue paper on Morgan’s seat so when he came back to his seat, he picked it up and then sat down.

“This from you, Chase?” he asked.

“Yeah, I figured we’d save the best for last,” Chase said. “Wait! Here’s the card. I made it.”

“I can tell your creative handiwork anywhere.” Morgan messed up Chase’s hair.

Chase had written in the card that he was going to miss Morgan when he leaves the house. I gave Chase a pat on his back because I believed there was a lot of truth in what he wrote. Morgan pulled the tissue paper away, revealing a tissue box. He laughed and looked around the table and then pulled Chase into a hug.

“I’m not going very far, bub. I won’t be much farther than Hollis is.”

Chase nodded and went back to his chocolate cake. As Morgan’s graduation dinner celebration wrapped up, I mentioned the party Patrick and I were having.

“Remember, if you’re up for it, you and your girlfriend are welcome to stop by tonight. Security in the lobby has your name, so you won’t have a hassle getting in.”

“Thanks, man. Violet’s stuck at a huge dinner tonight. The rest of her family is here from Canada for her graduation. So I’m supposed to stop by and meet everyone and then after that, I’ll swing by.”

Patrick and I said our goodbyes and were the first the leave. We had a party to host and a few things still to set out.

“Should I stay in my suit pants and dress shirt, just ditch the jacket and tie? Or does that look too Miami Vice?” Patrick asked as we walked into our building.

“Too Miami Vice. I’m ditching the suit. I have to wear them enough with event arrivals and shit.”

As soon as I changed into jeans and a navy t-shirt that hugged my biceps and pecs, I double checked my nightstand for condoms and lube. I’d remind Patrick too because part of me really wanted Avery and him to get together… but part of me didn’t. It wasn’t so much that I didn’t want him to be happy. I did. But I wanted whoever he was with to treat him well. Not just well, but really fucking well.

Before we knew it, everyone we had invited was here and the party was in full swing. Avery spent much of the evening very close to Patrick, and after a while I noticed he had his arm around her waist as they talked with Grace and Juan. Both of them were also makeup artists for motion picture studios. They stood in the living room chatting while I stood by the huge kitchen island and talked with Wyatt and Mateo about my training schedule, but my eyes wandered to Patrick occasionally. Wyatt was an athletic trainer for some celebrities, so he was interesting to listen to. Mateo played professional soccer, and he had a rigorous training schedule like I did, but his focused more on cardio.

“All the cardio comes in handy with Levi,” Mateo said and gestured over his shoulder.

His partner, Levi, had walked up to join our conversation at just the right time as his name was mentioned. Levi wrapped his hand around Mateo’s upper arm and playfully tugged him close so their noses touched.

“Were you talking about me again?” Levi asked as he laughed.

“Yes. We were talking about workout schedules and focuses. I was telling them how all my cardio comes in handy with you.”

Levi leaned in and kissed Mateo. It wasn’t just a peck, though. This was a full-on mouth and tongue kiss. I took a sip of beer from the bottle and glanced at Patrick, who was looking at me. I glanced down at Avery’s hand that had disappeared under the side of his shirt. I was roughly yanked out of my trance of watching Patrick and Avery when I heard Levi say something about Patrick.

“I told Patrick whenever he felt he needed to scratch his bi itch he was welcome to come over.”

“He’s bi? I didn’t know that,” Mateo said and then turned to look in Patrick’s direction.

“Yeah, we were just talking about it over there.”

“Looks like he’s got his eye on some pussy tonight,” Mateo said, referring to Avery.
