Addy laughed, thinking of Mal’s SEAL buddies. “So, tell me everything.”

Ignoring that she was late, she settled on her bed and listened to Mandy’s excited chatter. She could let her worries fade into the background for a few moments.

Vic heardthe footsteps and knew who had decided to bother him on New Year’s Day.

“There you are,” Justin said as he walked into Vic’s home office. His business partner and best friend shook his head. “Where were you last night? I had to hold down the fort all by myself.”

People would probably look at them today and wonder how they remained so close, but it was easily explained for the two of them. The unrepentant grin told Vic that Justin had no problems handling anything that had gone on that night atCapital Punishment. Since they had met all those years ago in basic training, they had been fast friends.

When you went to hell and back with someone, you tended to keep them around.

“I have a feeling you had no problems whatsoever.”

“So, you did the dance with the boss,” Justin said, making himself at home as he sat in one of the chairs in front of Vic’s massive desk.

“Yeah.”

“And there’s more. Did that filly you’ve been pining for finally take you up on your offer?”

Sometimes having a friend who knew you so well was fantastic. You knew the guy would always have your back. Right now, it sucked. He had lost control last night, and Justin would know right away. He’d been ignoring the need he had for Addison for so long…he had thought he’d been in control over it the night before.

The temptation to claim her had been too much.

“Ahh, you did. When are you bringing her by the club?” Justin asked, his voice deceptively nonchalant. Vic knew better.

Vic said nothing as he shifted to ease his discomfort. “I didn’t…we didn’t…” Good lord, he was babbling like a first-year law student. “It wasn’t like that.”

Justin’s blue gaze sharpened as he studied Vic. “Come again?”

He understood just why Justin was confused. They’d always been open about their sexual needs, which was one reason they were good business partners. They understood the need for Dominance. It wasn’t something that usually got in the way of their friendship, which wasn’t always the case with men like them.

“She’s not into the life.”

“Yeah. And you had thought to find someone else.” Then, his eyes widened. “Ohhhhh.”

“What?”

“This is more than just a little fun.” He smacked his hand on his knee. “Oh, lord, Ihaveto meet her now.”

“Absolutely not.”

There was no way he was going to allow Addison near Justin. While Vic wasn’t ashamed of his lifestyle, he wasn’t as…open about it with other people. Justin had no trouble letting just about anyone know what he did for a living…and how he lived his life.

“Better and better.” Vic could all but see Justin rubbing his hands together. “You know I won’t poach. Unless, of course, she wanted a real Dom.”

Vic scowled at him.

Justin chuckled. “So much fun. Are you going over to the boss’ house for dinner?”

“Yep.”

“Gonna have ham?”

Vic nodded as he surrendered. He didn’t have the heart to leave Justin at odd ends today. His business partner wasn’t the only one who could read thoughts and actions. Justin needed to be around people today, and the club was closed.

“You can come with me. Let me tell the boss know about it to make sure they have enough.”

But Vic knew they would without a problem. Still, he couldn’t just show up with Justin.
