Diane and I say goodbye, then go our separate ways. I head to the parking lot to drive back to the B&B. I feel like a teenager––nervous and excited all at once––all because I know I’ll see Olivia when I return. Or, at least, IhopeI’ll see Olivia. News that I have an extra ticket to tomorrow night’s dinner has me thinking this is the perfect opportunity to take Olivia out while I’m in town. Hopefully, she’ll say yes.

Olivia

“That man ishot!” Anni says after we get into her van. “I mean, I’ve seen his picture on the back of his books, but they don’t do him justice.”

I click my seatbelt into place. “I know. I was surprised when he walked into the B&B.”

Anni starts the van, then checks her blind spot to see if she can pull out. She’s absolutely right about Stone, and my body is still buzzing from the encounter with him thirty minutes ago. I was shocked when Stone appeared as Anni and I were setting out the cupcakes. I saw the line leading up to his table on the stage. He took a break from his busy day and put all his fans on hold to come talk to me. Maybe he just wanted a cupcake. Either way, he mentioned hanging out again later.

“I can’t believe he’s staying under your roof,” Anni continues as she drives in the direction of her bakery. “You’ll have to text me with all the juicy details if you see him again tonight.”

I try to laugh her comment off, so she doesn’t know how I’m feeling. I’m sure Anni would trade places with me in a heartbeat, but I don’t want anyone––even my best friend––to know how quickly I’ve developed feelings for Stone. The truth is, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him, and I know I’m being silly. He’s out of my league, and he’s only here for the weekend. How serious can things get between us?

“Maybe you’ll get lucky and have a fling with him while he’s in town,” Anni continues.

I laugh again. “Yeah, sure… me, with my unlucky dating life, will suddenly have a weekend affair withtheStone Ryder.Right.”

Anni pulls into her bakery’s parking lot. It’s not far from the hotel, but we needed to drive to deliver over a hundred cupcakes.

“Oh, come on. Your dating life isn’t unlucky. It’s nonexistent,” she deadpans. I whip my head to look at her, and she shrugs apologetically. She’s not wrong, though. “All I’m saying is, don’t kick Stone Ryder out of bed, okay?”

Rolling my eyes, I smirk at Anni and reply, “I doubt I’ll have the chance.”

Later that evening, after Lorelei and I enjoy the homemade lasagna she made for dinner, I decide to sit out on the back deck to read more of Stone’s book. It’s my favorite place to read when the weather is nice, but I’m also hoping Stone will find me out here again like he did last night.

In the meantime, I’ll enjoy reading his story.

And then I get to a part in the story that takes me by surprise… a sex scene.

I can’t control myself any longer. Selena’s heated blue eyes burn through mine, and the pent-up sexual tension between us explodes. I crash my lips to Selena’s, pressing her against the wall. Her hands cling to me, and she lets out the sexiest moan in pleasure, making my dick strain in my jeans.

I need this.

“I want you,” Selena hisses as I press my body against hers. “Now.”

Her hands shift to the waistband of my jeans, and she makes quick work of undoing my pants. Before I can comprehend everything that’s happening, her hand wraps around my cock.

“You want me?” I lift her skirt and push her panties aside. She’s soaking wet, ready to take me. She guides my cock to her entrance, and I push inside…

I have to stop reading for a moment to fan my face. Am I blushing? Jesus. I had no idea Stone could write such a hot scene. If he can write a scene like this, I wonder how good he is in bed.

“Reading again?”

I nearly jump out of my seat, and the book slips out of my hands onto the deck. Turning around, I see Stone standing there, another fast-food bag in one hand and a soda in the other.

“I didn’t hear you walk out here,” I say. “You gave me a heart attack.”

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he replies. “Do you mind if I sit here?”

Hell, no, I don’t mind.

“Sure,” I casually reply, then lean over to pick up my book.

“What part of the story are you at?”

I can’t tell him I’m at the part where Mick is fucking Selena against the wall. “Um… they just arrived in New York,” I say, explaining what happened at the beginning of the chapter.

Stone sets his fries on the arm of his Adirondack chair, then looks at me and waggles his eyebrows. “Chapter twenty. It’s a good one.” He winks, then shoves a fry in his mouth with a smug look. He doesn’t know I know what happens next, and I can’t lie––his reaction turns me on.
