Mrak didn’t say anything for so many moments that I thought he maybe wouldn’t. I probably sounded just a little crazy compared to the Aisling who’d summoned him one year ago. To the woman he’d come to love. But I was done waiting around for him or Leif or Cassius to shape a future for me.

This was my future. My body. And I’d be making it with or without Mrak’s okay.

I grinned, unable to keep the satisfaction at hearing that from him from my face. “Good. Then there’s no time to waste. Give me what power you can.”
