Then he lays me flat on the bed, and we resume kissing.

I slide my hands down his back to his butt and dig my fingers in. He wraps his arm tightly around my waist and lets his kisses trail from my lips to my chin to my neck and down my chest.

Okay. I could totally see us breaking our agreement. I mean, we kinda already have, but I couldreallysee us breaking it.

Especially when his mouth finds one of my nipples, and I gasp.

He moves across my chest and about the time his lips land in the center of my cleavage, we hear the front door loudly swing open.

And then Joel calls out.

Jesse and I tear ourselves apart and jump off the bed.

If Joel sees us, he’s gonna lose it.

Jesse chucks my bra at me and throws his shirt on. He quickly hooks my bra and hands me my shirt.

I slide it on as Joel knocks on the door and sticks his head in.

“Hey bro is—”

I’m smoothing everything out when Joel catches that both of us are in the room.

He swings the door all the way open, and although we’re trying not to, we look incredibly guilty.

Even though we didn’t do anything. Much.

I mean, we might have, if Joel hadn’t come home.

Joel’s face turns red as he sputters for words.

“Bro, I need you to calm—”

“Did you sleep with her?” he half yells, half growls.

“No,” Jesse and I say at once.

“Nothing happened,” I say.

“Yeah, she was upset about Davey. We weretalking,” Jesse adds.

Joel looks between the two of us, then at the messed up bed.

He narrows his eyes at me. “Then how come your shorts are unbuttoned?”

My face flashes a deep red as I look down.

Did he unbutton my shorts? I don’t remember that.

That’s when I realize my shorts are still buttoned.

Oh, I’m gonna kill him.

I set my eyes on Joel as he steps in close to me.

“If nothing happened, why were you worried about your shorts?” he asks, somewhere between a growl and a whisper.

Jesse grabs him by the shoulder. “We didn’t sleep together. Okay?”
