“I’ll be the judge of that,” I challenged, walking towards him, and lifting his shirt to check on him. His skin was angry red, but the bruise didn’t even have time to fully form as his Dragon healing kicked in, taking away the swelling.

“I’m okay,” he repeated, giving me a pointed look.

“Yeah, well. You can heal, it doesn’t mean they should beat you just because they can!” My voice rose with the statement, and I turned to glare at the warriors.

“Awe.”

“Princess, don’t be like that!”

“What fun is that?” they replied in unison, making me chuckle.

With a shake of my head, I focused on Braxton. “Thank you for what you wrote to Willow. It said a lot about the man you are, and it meant a lot to me.”

Understanding and hope captured his gaze. “Did it mean something to her?”

“I think so,” I nodded. “I think she’ll reconsider everything now.” Leaning in, I pressed a much-deserved kiss on my mate’s lips.

Naughty whistling and calls instantly erupted behind us, making Braxton laugh, before giving me one more kiss just to show them. I gladly welcomed it. It felt good to be out in the open together… at least among those closest to us. The rest would come when it was meant to come.

“I bet I can knock you off that pretty stance of yours,” I challenged loud enough for everyone to hear.

“Oooh, going against the princess!” Harrison taunted. “You are done now, pretty boy!”

Narrowing his eyes at me, Braxton refused to laugh and stepped back, getting into position. “Challenge accepted.”

“Get ready,” I warned, taking only a few of steps back, then jumped. He probably thought I was going to fly-kick him like Harper had, but when I soared towards his head, his eyes widened.

“Shit!” he gasped the second my thighs wrapped around his neck.

I spun, throwing the entire weight of my body down to flip him in the air. His back slammed against the dirt the next second, and I landed on him, straddling his chest while one of my knees pressed against his throat.

“Ouch.”

Shouts of laughter and celebration erupted around us, making my lips twitch.

“You cheated,” Braxton rasped.

“No, I did not. You expected me to push you, strike you, or kick you out of your position, and that was your downfall. Never assume you know where the attack will come from. You mustalwaysbe ready for anything.”

“Yes, ma’am.” My mate pursed his lips, asking for a kiss, so I took my knee off him and pressed my mouth to his before we stood.

“So, what have you guys been doing all morning?” I asked, planting both hands on my hips.

A mischievous emotion lit Imogen’s features and she joined us. “Show her, my prince.”

Taking a deep breath, Brax briefly closed his eyes, when he opened them once more, they were glowing a bright gold.

“You can control it now?” I asked excitedly.

Imogen’s grin bloomed. “He can. And that is not all.”

“It’s not an exact science,” Braxton added. “But I can feel my Dragon essence stronger now, always pulsing, and ready for me to access. So, I can.”

Brax’s hand lifted, and the next instant, Dragons dropped from the lairs, flying towards the training area. Spartan, Star, Athina, Spike, and Fire Fury landed before us—his head lowering to reach Braxton’s touch.

“Gods!” I gasped, stunned. “You can command them?”

He shook his head, shifting his glowing gaze to me. “It’s much deeper than that. We are truly connected now. Not only through our shared essence but through my Wizard magic too. We are a family, so the Dragons respond to me like they respond to each other. No commands needed, just a call to my kin.”
