“Yeah. I wish they would move faster, but I guess they’re doing what they can.”
They are, I’m sure of it.
I move to her, wrapping her in my arms. “The only priority is keeping you safe.”
“I just want this over,” she says, pressing her cheek against my chest, her arms wrapping around my waist.
“It will be soon,” I assure her.
I lead her to the sofa and sit, pulling her against me. She nuzzles into me instantly. “Thank you for agreeing to babysit me. This isn’t exactly what you signed up for.”
I kiss her hair. “Nowhere else I’d rather be.”
