He remains silent while his hand comes up skating across the cut from earlier. He moves, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, but he quickly drops it and steps back.

“Let’s go.” He quickly spins around, expecting Blais and I to follow. I let out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding before rolling my shoulders back.

Blais grabs ahold of my arm, tugging me so I follow him. I’m getting really tired of them latching onto me every time I walk in and out of a room, like I’m going to bolt with them standing right next to me. The entire time we walk down the hallway to the stairs, I can’t keep my mind from racing, thinking about everything.

Having sex with Ace. Being turned on by Blais spanking me. Theon’s back and forth moments of being tender and angry. But the person I’m most confused with is myself.

I love and hate the way they make me feel. Everything about them draws me in, but I know it’s wrong.

We make our way downstairs and I see a very angry looking Ace. To anyone who hasn’t picked up on the way he pretends to act calm, they’d probably never know he’s a raging mess inside. His jaw is firmly set, his eyes are lit with a burning fire, and his posture is so rigid he looks like he’s got a stick shoved so far up his ass he can taste it. He’s trying to pretend he’s still in control of himself and the others, even me, but he’s slowly losing his grip and he knows it.

“What took so fucking long?” His tone is deep and his voice is clipped.

“Had to fix up her injuries and make her as good as new.” Blais’ humor dances through the room, but I remain stiff. With Ace, he’s either about to blow a gasket, most likely directed at me, or he’s going to act like a cocky asshole.

Not sure which I’d prefer right now.

“Zamira, log in to the computer.” His reaction surprises all of us, including Theon. I look over at him and his head is tilted to the side, but his face still remains firm. Ace didn’t even put up a fight or give jackass remarks back.

My black laptop is lying on the table. Sitting down in the chair at the glass table, I slide it closer toward me, turning it on. It takes a second for me to log in, but I quickly gain access.

Theon moves around the table so he’s standing directly behind me, and Blais takes a seat on the chair to my right, placing his wandering hand on my thigh. Cutting a glare to him, I find him giving me a smile full of bad ideas. He further proceeds to possessively squeeze my leg, the heat of his palm seeping into my skin.

Theon bends over my shoulder, his hot breath hitting my neck. “You’re taking your sweet time, princess. Hurry it up.” His voice is so deep and full of lust, even if he’s not trying for it to be that way.

“What do you guys want to know? Not like I have a whole arsenal of information on him. I’ve got enough, but I was trying to get more before you all thought it’d be a great idea to kidnap me.” I look over at Theon’s face which is only inches from mine as he stares at me.

“We want it all,” he whispers before straightening up to stand behind me again. That wasn’t cryptic at all. They want all I have on Novak or they want all of something else?

“Listen. I know you want everything I’ve got on Novak, but I meant what I said earlier. I think we could work together and be beneficial to each other.” I stare Ace down, whose jaw clenches even more. For a man who just had mind-blowing sex, you’d think he’d be a little less tense.

“What?” Theon asks from behind me, sounding surprised.

“I said we should work together?” My statement comes out more of a question than telling him because I figured Ace would’ve filled him in.

“You want to work together?” Blais says, squeezing my thigh even tighter.

“I need Novak. You want him too. It’s a win-win. We could be on the same side instead of against each other. We could give each other what we’ve got on the guy and move forward with this instead of pussyfooting around it all.” My eyebrow raises, challenging Ace to say he doesn’t exactly need me. I’m sure they realistically don’t, but they also know I could make it a lot easier for them if they used me.

“No,” Ace says. “What makes you think we need you beyond the computer?”

His answer pisses me off, considering our conversation in my apartment. He fucking agreed and now he’s acting like it never happened in front of the others? Jackass.

“I’m the best bet you’ve got at getting him faster. Who says everything I know about him is on this computer? Maybe I’m keeping things up here.”I tap against my temple. My voice is calm, cool, and collected because I know I’m right.

“I mean, she could help us out,” Blais says, dragging out his words as Ace’s head snaps to him.

“No.” He scrubs his hand down his face before looking at me again. “Just pull up the records.” Shaking my head, I don’t even fight it. I know he’s going to act like an ass no matter what, so I’d rather get this done quickly.

I go through the encrypted system and pull up what I have on Novak. I tell them what our reports on him say and they each look over the documents I have. Every part of this makes my skin itch knowing they are getting what they want, but realistically, it’s not as much as they were probably expecting.

He’s a shady-ass lawyer, who does extremely suspicious things, and people have gone missing around him. Even if he’s not the main guy or the person I’m truly looking for, I know he’s not clean cut either.

“Well, that wasn’t as helpful as I imagined,” Blais says in thought. “Maybe we should—”

“No!” Ace roars, cutting off Blais’ sentence. He clearly knew what Blais was going to say before he cut him off.

“He has a point,” Theon says to Ace, making me even more confused. They all seem to know what Blais was going to say before he said it.
