If she hadn't killed him already, I would give up everything right now to find him and do it myself.

“You did what you had to do to protect yourself. Even if you weren’t in danger at the time. You could’ve told us that. We would’ve understood.” Even though that’s true, she didn’t know that at the time. We were just strangers torturing her, holding her captive. Keeping her secrets buried deep was protection to her.

Another tear falls on my chest as she shakes her head.

“I don’t know how Novak knew those things about me—about Tommy,” she whispers almost inaudibly, changing the subject from her abusive piece of shit ex. “I’ve never met him before coming to your club. He shouldn’t know those things. I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around it, but I can’t figure it out.”

“I plan on finding out, okay? No one’s going to hurt you again.” A weird sense of possessiveness washes over me when it comes to her. It’s like I’ll do anything to keep her safe even though we’re the monsters who put her in this position in the first place.

I don’t know why I’m making her promises because I don't know if I can keep them. I can’t promise that we won’t hurt her either, or that she’s even going to make it out of here. I can’t, but I am anyway.

She nods her head, giving a soft smile. Planting a kiss to her lips, I wiggle my body out from under her. “I’ll be back. I’m going to go check on how things are going with Novak.” I grab my clothes off the floor, pulling them back on before I walk toward the door.

Something is itching at me so I stop and turn on my heels back toward the naked goddess. “Is Tommy why you don’t like the nickname princess?”

Her eyes fall to the empty side of the bed as if she can’t look at me. “Yeah, that’s what he called me. When he was being sweet, it was nice to hear, but when he was beating me, it was like acid to my ears.” I didn’t think I had a heart anymore, but the pain in this girl makes me feel something in my chest.

“Guess I better come up with a different nickname for you then.”

Her head snaps up, capturing me with her confused expression. “No.”

No? She hates the nickname. Now I’m the one confused.

“I hated it at first, but I’ve gotten used to it, and I like how it sounds coming from your mouth. Please don’t stop.”

I fight the urge to smile and just nod before leaving the room.

Fuck, this girl is strong with a delicious darkness inside her.

The relaxed ease of my body disappears as I make my way back downstairs. Walking into the room, I see Novak’s mangled body hanging limply against the chains while blood seeps down the drain in the floor. His skin is bubbled from the acid and he’s got cuts and bruises on every inch of visible skin.

I can’t help the feeling of satisfaction that envelops me at seeing him like that.

It looks like Ace and Blais painfully tortured him, I’m just pissed I didn’t have the chance to see him take his final breath. He deserves at least seven more deaths before I’d be satisfied, but I know Ace did what he had to do for Allie.

Blais and Ace are talking to each other while they look over his bloody body, before their attention snaps to mine when the heavy metal door shuts behind me.

Their eyes are black, with anger swirling around their irises, letting me know I missed out on something bad.Something is wrong. “What happened?”

“He’s not the one,” Ace roars in my direction, clenching his fists before he knocks over the table holding all the weapons, causing them to crash to the ground, the sound of metal hitting the concrete echoing off the walls. He continues to scream, losing his shit in front of me, but I make no move to stop him. He needs to let this out. It’s been a war inside him aching to be released for years and now it’s finally snapped. “This isn’t over.”

“What the hell does that mean?” What does he mean Novak’s not the one?

“He didn’t kill Allie,” Blais says, trying to grasp onto Ace’s shoulder to calm him down, but he just shrugs him off, pacing back and forth.

“What the fuck do you mean he didn’t kill Allie?” Now I’m the one ready to throw a fucking tantrum.

“He was there, but he wasn’t the one that took her life,” Blais adds.

There was more than one?“How do you know he didn’t just tell you that in order for you to save his pathetic life?” I ask, feeling my blood boil.

This can’t be true! We researched this meticulously to make sure we got the right guy.

The guy who killed our Allie.

My stomach twists, threatening to release the scotch I had at the club earlier.

“He wasn’t fucking lying!” Ace pounds his fists against his chest looking like a deranged fucking animal. “He knew he was going to die, but he didn’t want to go down alone. He sold out his partner with a big fucking grin on his face, like the scum he is.”
