I’ve come to learn Ace Lennox is ten times worse than Blais and Theon. You can see Blais’ crazy, and Theon doesn’t try to hide that he’s an asshole, but Ace sneaks up on you.

Blais might be bloodthirsty. Theon might look like a handsome devil. But Ace, he’s the one who will destroy you behind your back and smile while he does it. He doesn’t give a shit who he has to hurt as long as he protects his family.

He’s the deadliest. Likely the most ruthless.

I don’t know anything about their pasts, but obviously they have a deep, unbreakable bond. One that Ace is willing to destroy anyone for. It’s also one I know Blais will protect even if he isn’t one hundred percent sold on the plan. I could see it in his eyes he hated what happened in the pool, but he didn’t fight back. They work as one, never straying away from each other. Even if they all don’t agree, they are a unit that works as one.

Knowing what Blais and Theon mean to him could help me destroy him when I have the chance. He wants to find my weakness, but I’ve already found his.

I don’t know what kind of game they’re playing, but I’m in last place at this point. They used my past against me. They found out my worst nightmare, and tortured me with it.

I still remember the accident like it was yesterday and I’ve been reliving it for four days straight.

My chest aches at how I couldn’t save my family. That’s my biggest regret.

Ace Lennox might have broken me with the pool stunt, but I didn’t shatter. He hit me right where it hurts, but I’m still strong enough to stand my ground and keep all the secrets to myself. I can piece myself together, finding my strength again. I’ll admit, I’ve been quiet since then, but I’ve been plotting my next move. I don’t want to be caught off guard like that ever again.

“That’s what will happen to you, if you don’t talk,” Ace taunts, twirling Blais’ knife between his fingers. He says it so casually, like we’re having an everyday run of the mill conversation.

All three are standing in front of me now, trying to intimidate me. They think that watching them kill a man will freak me out and make me talk, but it won’t. I know what it feels like to twist a blade into someone and have them gasping for air under my touch.

I drop my chin, closing my eyes, trying to push down the euphoria I once felt about killing Tommy. Even the lingering happiness should make me feel ashamed, but it doesn’t. He got what he deserved and I’ll never regret that.

I can’t let that feeling consume me again, even if Tommy deserved it. I can’t fall into that madness, losing myself to the darkness I’ve tried so hard to suppress.

Rough hands grab my head, forcing me to look up. “Fucking look at us if you don’t want to end up like Tony here,” Ace growls as Theon’s hold stays firm. My glare is on him, but I can see Blais’ fists balled in frustration by his side.

“I get that he touched me, but did you really have to kill him?”

“Yes,” Blais grunts, squeezing his fists.

“You didn’t even get anything from him. Wasn’t that the whole point?”

Ace trails the bloody knife down my jawline. “He gave us everything we needed.”

My brows scrunch in confusion, my eyes watching his hand. “But he didn’t say anything.”

He grins. “Exactly.”

I try to move my head, but Theon’s grip tightens on me. “What the fuck does that mean?”

“Tony didn’t have to tell us anything, because we already know what he would’ve said.”

Ace is being cryptic and short, and it’s starting to piss me off. This is the first emotion other than fear and sadness that I’ve felt since he almost drowned me in the pool. It’s refreshing to feel like myself again, but I don’t want them to know I’m getting back to normal. If they know that, they’ll attack again and I’m not quite done concocting my plan to fuck with them from the inside.

“Why did you kill him?” I ask, trying a different route with him.

“I’m glad you asked.” Ace chuckles. “Well, you’ve met Tony, you know how handsy he could be. Turns out he was putting his hands on a lot of women that came into the club, but that’s not all. He also liked to take advantage of drunk women leaving the bar alone.”

Theon leans in from behind me. “He’d use his position to make them feel safe and pretend that he was helping by walking with them to hail a cab, but he’d take them around the corner and rape them in the alley.” His low voice rumbles in my ear.

Ace shoots Theon a look like he’s not okay with him taking over.

I knew Tony was a sick motherfucker, but I didn’t know he was that disgusting. What if they got it wrong? He didn’t exactly admit to what they’re accusing him of.

“How do you know that? He didn’t say that,” I challenge the blond monster in front of me.

“Cameras from across the street, temptress.”
