Rian nods. “Yeah, we’re in, but we don’t see anything. There are three guards but that’s it. No one else is there. It looks dead.”
Fuck!The lack of control over this situation is sending me spiraling. I can feel the anger—and the fear—building in the pit of my stomach.
“If they aren’t there, then where the hell are they?” I roar, causing my mother to flinch beside me. All I want to do is flip this desk over and burn this place down.
“I don’t know. These are the only two addresses he has, right?” Lya’s voice is stressed, and Rian moves his hand to her back to comfort her. I’m not the only one frantic to get Lainey back; Lya is too. She looks like she’s ready to burn this place down with me.
“Right, but it turns out that asshole Lee Davis is as sleazy as they come, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he fucking lied about that too.”
“What do you mean?” Zep’s voice sounds behind me as he moves closer. He sounds raspy, still recovering from the smoke inhalation.
“Before Sutton knocked me out, he said that Davis had told him I wasn’t in the business anymore. That’s how he knew something was up, why he brought all those extra men.”
“Shit,” Rian curses. When we were planning this, I told them everything I knew about Sutton. How I didn’t know he existed, how I’d only ever known about Genesis, how Lee Davis was the one to tell me about his operation.
“Yeah, so there’s no telling what else he’s been hiding from me. Sutton could have a million places that I don’t know about. Or he could’ve taken her somewhere completely new and random. There’s no telling what he’d do.”
Lya and the guys look like they’re deep in thought, while I try to mentally map out any sort of hint I’ve ever gotten to figure where they could be.
“I have something that might help.” My mother’s soft voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
Turning to look at her, I ask, “What’s that?”
She looks hesitant. Looking around the room, she gestures toward Lya’s guys.“Do you trust them?” my mother asks.
That’s a tricky question. I have no idea where we stand anymore. They’ve done terrible things to me, but I would have done the same in their shoes. If it were Lainey, I would’ve done the exact same things that Zep and Rian did to me, and probably more.
I might be at odds with the four of them, but all five of us want to save Lainey. For now, we’re on the same side. My eyes lock with Lya’s, reminding me of Lainey’s beautiful hazels.
I’d do anything for her, even if it means siding with them.
“Yes.”
“Okay. If you trust them, then so do I.” My mother looks me in the eye. “Harvey has a third location that no one else knows about.”
I frown. “Another location? Why? What does he use it for?”
“He uses it to... take care of business, as he puts it. He’s taken his men who cross him there, as well as any girls who have betrayed him. I think it’s where he kills them, but I’ve never been, so I can’t be sure. He always hints at it, but never confirms. That’s just what I’ve heard whispered around here.”
“Where is it?” An anxious feeling to get to Lainey spreads throughout my body. If he takes people there to kill them, that means only one thing for my angel.Fuck.We need to get therefast. I’m practically bouncing on the balls of my feet from the amount of sheer panic surging through me.
“It’s about an hour away from here, in a secluded area surrounded by acres of land that Harvey owns.” I’m not sure how she knows all these details if she’s never been, but I’m thankful she does. Any tiny piece of information is helpful right now.
“Would he have a security system out there?” I demand.
“Yes. He doesn’t trust a lot of people so he puts cameras anywhere he can.”
I look to Lya. “Can you get into those cameras?”
“Already on it. He keeps this property feed on the same server, with weakass encryption that took me all of five seconds to break,” Rian murmurs, as his fingers fly over the keys. “I’m in. The time stamp is behind though, so the feed must not be live on the server. If they’re there, anything we see will have happened thirty minutes ago… Oh shit.” His face drops and my stomach clenches at the look on his face.
“What?” I growl.
“She’s there.”
I move around the desk to look over Rian’s shoulder. I see Sutton on the screen, getting out of a car parked in front of a huge house and making his way around to Lainey’s door. He tries to open it, but it’s locked. All of a sudden, the door slams against his body and he bends over in pain. The door slams into him again, hitting his head this time. Fuck yes. That’s my girl.Keep fighting, angel, I’m coming.
I can’t tell what he says, but the next thing I see is him pulling her out of the car and punching her, before squeezing her throat as he presses his body against hers. He drags Lainey away from the car by her hair, throwing her around like a rag doll. The sight makes me want to jump through the screen and wrap my hands around his throat until he turns blue.
