“We’ll get her back, but this is too risky!”

“Greyson!”

Lya and the guys are all yelling at me, trying to call me back as I run toward the house, but won’t work. The only thing that would stop me from storming into this house is Lainey. My entire mind is blinded by rage, so all rationality escapes me.

“I’ll find the girl you’re trying to protect, take her as mine, and fuck her over and over again before I kill her.”Sutton’s parting words before I passed out in the warehouse scream in my brain over and over. It won’t stop.

“She won’t be the same girl when I’m done with her.”

I can’t get his words out of my head.

What if I don’t find her in time? What if he’s already put his slimy little hands on her?

The thoughts only amplify my rage and tune their screams out more. I know they want to take a step back and work out a plan calmly, but I can’t do that. In the back of my mind, I know I should learn from my past mistakes and actually think about what I’m doing, but when it comes to Lainey, I can’t waste any more time.

I can’t.

He has her.

He’s threatened her.

I have to get to hernowbefore he fucking hurts her.

Sprinting up the stairs, I charge through the door. I’m on the warpath and it must look like it too, because the girls scatter, letting out scared squeals when I stomp inside. Ignoring them, I make my way back to Sutton’s office.

When I get my hands on him, he’s fucking dead and it won’t be just a threat this time.

Two massive men come charging at me. “What are you doing here?” one asks aggressively.

I have the edge here, because they didn’t expect me. I have the element of surprise.

Pulling the gun out of my waistband, I don’t answer their questions, I just go into fight mode. Well, more like kill mode, because I just put a bullet through the larger one before he can reach me. It should be alarming how easy I find it to kill, but these two fuckers are in my goddamn way—they need to be disposed of quickly.

The other man has his gun drawn, but I’m faster. My hand grabs the barrel and wrenches his arm around in a painful position behind his back, before I kick the backs of his knees, sending him to the ground. Now that I have him in a vulnerable position, with my gun to his head, maybe I’ll get some answers.

“Where the fuck is Sutton?” I demand, twisting his arm harder, causing him to yell out in pain.

“Like I’d tell you,” he grunts.

I don’t have time for these games. I could torture him for answers, but that’ll waste precious time and if he’s well-trained, he might not even crack.

“Aww, too bad I don’t need you,” I say right before I pull the trigger. The girls’ screams echo throughout the house.

That was a probably dumb move.

Oh well.

I tuck the gun in the back of my waistband, and head toward Sutton’s office. I slam open the door, ready to murder him, but it’s empty.

Fuck! Where is he? Where did he take her? Are they at the Adair house?

Stomping back into the living room, I notice that Lya and the guys have followed me in but they are standing back cautiously, taking in their surroundings. I turn my attention to those who might know where the fucker is. The girls.

“Where is Sutton?” I growl.

Silence and fear is what I get. They all look around at each other, not saying a word. Their faces are filled with terror and confusion; most of them are trembling at my presence. Sutton’s really done a number on them. It probably doesn’t help that I came in here guns blazing, shooting two men in front of them. I told Lainey I wanted to help these girls, but right now, I’m only making it worse.

“What’s going on here?” a female voice demands from behind me.
