“There is an idea.”

“Of course, you could probably ask your sister and she would know.”

“I don’t know Jillian it just seems so aggressive”

“Well, you should do whatever you think is best. I am only looking out for the safety and the decency of the town.”

Claudia turned away and face the building across the street. Jillian was still talking as she moved in the opposite direction toward the cash register. After a few moments could no longer really hear what Jillian was saying. Although it wouldn’t have made a difference if she could be turn attention was totally focused on the building across the street. Pulling up in front building in his hand was no other than Austin Brogan.

Now what was he up to? It seemed there was someone else to ask about after all.

* * *

The building had beencleaned out last night by a crew. It was next to impossible to keep a secret in a small town and Austin knew he was on borrowed time. The building was cavernous. It was filled with open spaces waiting to be filled with tables that had designs and sketches on them. Every day that he had come into this building he had seen his dream come closer and closer. This was going to be the workshop for the boutique. It would all be created and stored here and then sold across the street. The company offices would be in this building and the creative spaces.

He hadn’t felt this hum of excitement is blood since he had left his old job. This is what he really wanted to do. Austin wanted to build something from the ground up. He was tired of drawing everybody else’s vision he wanted to see his own. He had everything else this project needed, well almost everything. While he knew he was an amazing artist he still needed a seamstress and a person with a vision, and she was right across the street. Was pretty sure Claudia had seen him come into this building. It was only a matter of time before she broke down and walked over. He hoped he was able to convince her about his vision. If not, he would have made plans to renovate a building and signed a two-year lease for nothing. He wasn’t going to make it too easy. Just like he had walked in the building he walked out. When he saw Claudia in the window he waved and got into his car to buy some paint supplies.

He walked up to the counter in the hardware store and dropped all of his supplies in front of the counter. He made two more trips to find himself in front of a smiling man.

“So, you are the one causing such an uproar in the town,” the man said.

Austin looked at the man and then at his supplies.

“You are kidding me, right? How can it be that I’m that popular?” Austin asked with a grin on his face.

“I’m Daniel and I will let you in on a secret. Anything or person that is new to Cooper’s Sand is big news.”

“I’m not new to Cooper’s Sand. I’ve just been away for a while. My name is Austin Brogan, and my cousin is Gabriel.”

“Oh, your cousin is the lawyer.”

Austin was a little shocked that Daniel knew who Gabriel was.

“Yes, he’s a lawyer

“A good man who does the right thing from what I hear. So, when are you going to tell everyone what you’re doing at the old Isley place?”

“I plan on telling someone very soon,” Austin said.

“Well, I think you better hurry it up otherwise all of the women will be coming around the shop to stop you from opening the illicit activity that’s going on there,” Daniel said with a smile.

“Illicit activity?”

“That’s if you believe gossip. By the way there isn’t’ any illicit activity is there?”

“No! I’m just... This will all be over by tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow you say? Well, I guess I can keep them from getting the pitchforks tonight.”

Ausitn shook his head. He had forgotten what being home was like. Growing up on the fringes he never had to deal with this at this intensity, but he had heard about it.

“Can I get some help carrying this?”

Daniel looked over the counter.

“Oh, leave it. I have a deliver guy who will bring it.”

Austing looked at the cans and thought about the trips he had made.
