CHAPTER 14

CASSIE

Cassie stretched her arms above her head with a huge grin. Being with Eros was a sexy dream come true. She ran her fingertips over her lips where he’d kissed her. Good lord! Had she actually ground herself on him through his shorts? She covered her mouth and squealed. Maybe she should be embarrassed, but she wasn’t.

She agreed to have dinner with Eros tonight. His body, his kisses, and his deep sexy voice had her imagining all kinds of sinful sex. He was the perfect antidote to the last few miserable months. She’d have dinner—and Eros—and go to London with no regrets. Why not give herself this one night of what promised tobe the best sex of her life?

Her phone rang. Rolling off the bed, she stepped out onto the balcony to the table where she left it.

“Hi, Lucy.”

“Hey, Cassie. You didn’t leave a message. Are you okay?” Lucy asked with concern.

Cassie had been a mess when she made called last night. What would have happened if Lucy answered her phone? She never would have been with Eros.

“I guess the answer is ‘No’ and ‘Oh my God, yes.’” Cassie said through a giggle.

“I’ve missed your laugh. I haven’t heard it in a long time. What’s going on?”

She squinted up at the bright sun. “Owen and Daphne are engaged.”

“What? How did you find out?”

“Owen sent me an email.” A surge of annoyance passed through her.

“Is there anything I can do?” Lucy offered.

“No, thanks. I feel better. I just needed to vent.” She did feel better. Owen’s email was petty and spiteful, and his words would never hurt her again. Being with Eros last night didn’t hurt her state of mind either.

“What was the giggling about?”

Cassie leaned on the railing and gazed out at the blue sea, dappled with sparkling lights from the sun. “I met someone.”

“Really?” Lucy shrieked. “Who is he?”

How was she going to answer that question when she didn’t know his name? She’d learn more tonight, but for now, she’d have to tell Lucy what she did know about him. “He’s a businessman. He has messy brown hair, a beard, and the most amazing amber eyes I’ve ever seen.” A shiver ran over her skin, imagining his touch and his kiss.

“That’s the most un-Cassie thing I’ve ever heard you say.”

“I won’t even try to disagree.” She smiled into the phone. “I’m having dinner with him tonight.”

“I’m happy for you. What’s his name?”

A high-pitched scream sounded in the background.

“Uh oh. I better go check on the girls.”

“Okay.” That was a close call. Now she didn’t have to admit she didn’t know his name. “Thanks for calling me back.”

“Call me when you come to London.”

“I will. Bye.” She ended the call and returned to the room, thinking of Eros and their upcoming night together.A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. It was probably the cleaning staff. She wrapped the hotel robe around her and looked through the peephole. It was a waiter. She opened the door.

“Good morning, miss,” the waiter greeted her with a cheerful smile. “Your breakfast is here.” He rolled a cart inside with a large silver dome covering a plate, a coffee pot, and a carafe of orange juice. “I was asked to give you this.” He handed her a white envelope. “If you have any questions, you can contact the concierge.”

She went to her purse to get him a tip.

The waiter held up his hands. “That’s not necessary. Everything is taken care of.”
