Their voices come through and confirm they've heard me but even their voices are disrupted and difficult to hear. Like a radio losing its connection. What the hell is happening?
The earth continues to rumble but loses its fierce shaking quickly. I find an open field and stop, laying Ronny down on the grass. Her lips are moving rapidly but no sound comes out. I brush her hair from her face and watch her eyes switch back and forth from white to blue to black.
"Shhh, Black, I'm right here. I'm not leaving." I tell her as I keep watch over her beautiful face and growl when I see her face morph into a look of fear. I hate this! I fucking hate the useless feeling running through me. I can't reach her or my brothers mentally and I need them here now.
I grab the phone she had with her and try to unlock it but somehow hit the camera instead. Growling, I toss it aside not willing to waste a second on it. Then I remember the necklace! It's around her neck.
I hold her arm and rub the moonstone, whispering the chant Darren told us but nothing happens. Sitting alone in the fucking field with Ronny in this paralyzing trance wondering what the hell to do is absolutely torturous
Suddenly there's a crackling in the air and the wind kicks up wildly, throwing pebbles and dirt everywhere. I shift immediately knowing it's none other than Merelda but instead of the old bitch stepping through her portal, a young girl comes forward.
I growl, I will not be fooled by Merelda's trickery.
"Drug! You have to run! Take Ronny and run now! Grandmother is coming!" The girl screams as she looks over her shoulder into the portal as if someone is right on her heels.
I shift back and try to grab Ronny but the girl's scream pierces the air and her body is jolted back through the portal right before Merelda steps through. Before I can shift back and fight, something like a smoke bomb lands near my feet and the substance spilling into the air chokes my human form.
I try to shift but I can't and the last thing I think of before the blackness takes over is kissing Ronny one last time.
