I stand, not bothering to cover my body with the sheets, and make my way to the restroom. This is the only room I've seen with anything personal. The whole place is cold and can make a person feel like he or she is standing in the lion's den.

But this restroom has products neatly lined up along the marble counter and the hand towel is slightly off center like it was recently used.

The enormous walk-in shower beckons me, so I happily oblige. After all, Leo left me alone in bed, so I assume I am to help myself.

After messing with the crazy dials on the shower, I finally get the temperature of the water exactly right. The coffee scented body wash is soothing and perfect. It's my favorite scent.

After rinsing off and washing my face, I step from the shower and wrap my hair in one thick towel while throwing on the black robe hanging from the hook. The stitching on the right pocket has Leo's initials, L.A. in curly script.

I make my way out of the room; I remember nothing after passing out last night, but I follow the smell coming from the kitchen.

Once I’m in the living room, I do a double take at the TV which is playing the news.

The volume is low, but the scroll along the bottom says there's been a shooting at a local strip club owned by suspected Latino Mafia Boss, Leo Alonso.

My hand flies up to my throat when I see the CSI workers rolling out bodies on gurneys.

Quickly, I grab the remote and fiddle with the buttons until the volume is up.

The news lady on the scene stands just across the street from the bullet riddled building, "Just after three in the morning, an attack on this Gentlemen's club took place. Five dead and three critically wounded in this deadly shooting. No suspects have been arrested, but witnesses say they saw a black SUV speeding away after the shooting stopped. We've asked our sources within the homicide unit and they have confirmed; the leading detectives suspect the Reyes Familia are the culprits behind this gruesome attack. Back to you, Gene."

The TV suddenly goes mute and I spin around expecting Leo to be standing there, but he's not. Instead, Brian stands there looking stoic and angry.

"Where's Leo? Does he know about this?"

Brian nods, "Yeah, he knows. He and Hector are handling it right now. Come on, Mrs. Alonso made you breakfast."

I grip the robe tighter to myself, half in worry and half in relief. I know Leo was with me all night, but just the thought of him caught up in this deadly shooting... it has my heart plummeting into my stomach.

"Wait, what did you say?" I whisper-yell while frantically looking into the kitchen for Leo's mother. Omigod. Was she here last night? Oh, fuck, I think I'm going to be sick.

"Chill, Dice. She's not here anymore. She'll be back in a couple of hours though, but Leo had someone bring you clothes."

Brian pulls plates out of the cabinet and loads them with eggs, bacon and toast.

As he sets them down before me, he looks me in the eye, "Things are about to change around here and trust me, it's for the best that you follow along."
