My body continues to shake and my heart beats like it's trying to break free of my body and get the hell out of dodge, but the relief I feel knowing my man is here is profound. I only hope the fucker holding me doesn't accidentally pull the trigger.

"Please, Mero-" The guy starts to say, but his words cut off when Leo pushes the barrel against his temple harder.

"Drop the gun or I'll leave your daughter where she is. Es una promesa, Miguel."That is a promise, Miguel.

I hear the bastard swallow loudly in my ear and my skin crawls, but then the gun at my head moves away. I quickly break free from the guy and run behind Leo.

My hands slide up and under his gun holsters, fingers gripping his button-up shirt. I feel his free hand grip my own in a tender way and finally, I'm able to breathe correctly.

"You will die for this regardless, but if you do not give me the answers I want, I will make you watch as I kill your family first.¿Me entiendes?"

I peek around Leo's side and watch as the tears flow from the bastard's face as he pops the clip from his gun and hands it over to Brian before raising both hands up in surrender.

Leo and the guards keep their guns trained on Miguel until Brian has his hands zip tied behind his back. Once that's done, all of five minutes have passed since Miguel grabbed me.

It's amazing and frightening how fast a life can end. Nine months to be born, seconds to die.

Leo spins in place and pulls me into his arms. His lips come down on mine for a quick but brutal kiss as his hand cups the back of my head.

Home. Safety. Love.

I taste them all and more on his lips and see them all shining back at me in his eyes. No, we haven't said the four-letter word yet, but I feel it. I see it.

"I want to go home, Leo," I tell him as my fear ebbs and my body grows heavy with exhaustion.

Leo turns to Brian but keeps his arm around my waist with his gun in his other hand, "Take him to the basement. I'm taking Dice with me. Don't start on him until I get there."

"You got it, Mero."

Both Brian and Leo sound like cold, soulless killers. I suppose they are, but I've never faced it like this. I've never seen it firsthand, and Leo's face does nothing but make me want him more. The death in his eyes and the promise of horrors in his dark grin make me want to be at his side forever.

I've always said, no one owns me... now? I'm not so sure.

As Leo leads me out of the warehouse while keeping his lips to my head, all I can think to myself is Leo Alonso owns me and I'm not complaining one bit.

I notice Letty and Hector are gone, "Where's Letty?"

"On the way home. I got the call from Hector, but I was already at the mall. I wanted to surprise you since I finished up business early. I told him to get Letty back to the penthouse."

He opens the passenger door for me on his Lamborghini Sian and pulls the belt around me as I lay against the seat. When he's done, Leo grips my chin in his thumb and finger, "You're never going anywhere without me, mi amor.No puedo."

He closes the door and makes his way around to his side. Once he's seated, he starts the car up and dials Hector, "I want every recording of the mall's security feed. Once you have it, send in a coded virus and destroy everything from this morning to just now."

"Already on it, boss. Is Dice okay?" I smile when I hear Letty in the background asking about me. Tears leak from my eyes at the worry I hear in their voices.

Familia. That's what Leo has built. It may be an empire built with fear, blood, power, and everything illegal. But it's built for his family.

What can you do when you've worked all your life for one you deserve but it's denied to you?

You fucking own it.

You take it.

You do whatever the fuck it takes to make reality your bitch.

I wipe my eyes as Leo takes my hand, "I'm fine, guys."

My voice is husky with emotion, but I smile at Leo. I'm a ball of random emotions right now. I'm angry that I've once again been attacked, but I'm also overwhelmed with gratitude that I made it out unscathed.
