“You want me to fight you?” I gave him a pointed once over. Jamie was twice my size. He had a distinct advantage.

“I need to see what you can do. Then after that, I can either find the areas your weak and help you improve, or you can prove to Adrian you don’t need training.”

“I don’t want to train with you,” I said, walking down the steps to his side.

“Likewise, Snowball,” he said. “But orders are orders.”

“Don’t call me that,” I hissed at him.

He held up his hands, smiling, and started on his way towards one of the empty mats closest to the house. I cracked my knuckles and followed. If I was going to train, at least I had something worth hitting in front of me.

Jamie hopped up onto the raised platform, and just as he turned to lift his hands to start our fight, I launched myself at him. My foot found his thigh, and I propelled myself up, wrapped my legs around his neck, and threw my weight around to bring him head over heals back down onto the mat.

He fell with ease, but the moment I released him he was up again, laughing. “Is that all you’ve got, Darlin? Been watching too many movies.”

“Shut up,” I spat. “Just fight me.”

He shrugged. “As you wish.”

His fist moved almost too fast for me to see. Almost. Ducking just beneath it, I swung my own fist up into his gut. My knuckles smacked into his ribs, and I felt them rebound as a small spark of pain cracked through my bones.

Jamie leapt backward, and laughed as he spun again sweeping his leg out to try and take my feet out from under me. I leapt over it and rolled my eyes. “Is that allyou’vegot?”

“Oh, Snowball, you have no idea.” He smiled, lifting his fists.

We began trading blows, one right after the other. His fist connected with my gut, my chin, and my forearms as I blocked him. I managed to clip him most of the same places but as I tried to tackle him to the ground, he flipped me over onto my back, and pinned me to the mat beneath him.

“You’ve gotten a lot better since we were kids,” he said, breathlessly. “A lot hotter too.”

“And you’re still the same creep you always were,” I snarled, trying to break his hold on me.

That same shadow from the arcade passed over his face, and he sighed, loosening his hands just enough for me to break free.

I scrambled back on my hands and knees and flipped back up to my feet. Jamie rose too. His smug smile made me so mad, my anger got the better of me and I threw a wild punch at his face.

He caught my wrist, and turned me around in his grasp, holding me tight against his chest. “Ah, ah, ah, don’t be rash. Anger is fuel, but if left uncontrolled it’ll get you killed, Snowball. And that, would be a cryin shame.”

He dipped his nose down to my neck inhaling my scent, and I tried to push him away. “Let me go.”

“Do you yield?” He asked.

“To you?” I laughed. “Never.”

“Awe, baby, it wouldn’t be that bad,” he purred in my ear. “Most girls that wrap their thighs around my face tend to enjoy it.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“Maybe so, but what are you gonna do about it?” He shrugged, keeping his hands tight around me. Stuck as I was, I could feel every inch of his hot chest pressed against my back, and the thought of the many other ways I could wrap myself around him started creeping up in the back of my mind.

No!I shouted at myself. I couldn’t think that about him. I had to think about this moment, here and now. How was I going to get out of this? What was it he’d said…I watch to many movies?

An idea surfaced in my mind, and I smiled. “You know, movies are useful sometimes.”

“What?”

“There’s an old one, Miss Congeniality…it taught me how to sing.” I chuckled.

Solar plexus, instep, nose, groin. Sing. In one swift cycle, I jammed my elbow back into his solar plexus. He grunted in surprise, and I drove my right heal down on top of his foot, and then swung my fist up to catch him in the nose before swinging back down and slamming my fist into his groin.
