“I’m pregnant,” she whispers, turning to me with tears in her green eyes. “We’re going to have a baby.”
“Yeah, we are,” I say, wrapping her up in my arms and holding her against my chest.
“What if it’s another girl?”
“Why would you say that?” I tease her, and she laughs. “You know that I’ll love our kids no matter what.”
She nods, wiping a few stray tears from her eyes.
“Good news?” she asks me, and I grin.
“The best news.”
She laughs and wraps her arms around my waist.
“I love you, Rule.”
“I love you too, baby girl.”
We stand like that for a while before I realize that Harvie is literally falling asleep standing up. I laugh as I pick her up in my arms and carry her to bed.
I kiss her forehead as she curls up on her side, and then I bend down and place another kiss on her stomach.
“Can’t wait until you’re here, little one,” I whisper and smile as I lie down next to Harvie in bed.
