‘It would be great to relax here, rather than get stuck in the mad Friday traffic,’ Mitch said.

Trixy yapped and jumped up at him, grabbing the towel between her teeth. He held onto it as she wrestled with it, pulling her head from side to side.

‘Woah,’ Mitch said.

Holly laughed. ‘I’d love to stay. I’ll leave you to sort yourself out.’ She walked past him to the shower room, giggling as Trixy continued to fight with him.

Rita rappedon the window of the holiday let. It was, Holly thought, like a massive beach hut. A wooden structure with a sitting area and sofa bed, a separate bedroom and a shower room. There were tea and coffee-making facilities but no kitchen area, Rita provided a bed and breakfast service.

Rita waved at her with three dresses over her arm. She opened the glass sliding door. ‘I sorted these out from my Izzy’s wardrobe and I have some smalls there too. I’m washing the clothes you came in. I was doing a load anyway.’

Holly stood wearing a towelling robe, eying Rita as she took the clothes, wondering whether she was on a mission to pretty her up. Looking down at the smalls, she noticed they were very small indeed.

‘I’m pleased you’re staying; I haven’t seen Mitch this relaxed, for ages.’ She pointed to the dresses. ‘I’m thinking the blue and white dress, but brought the other two in case you preferred them.’

Holly thanked Rita and went to the bedroom to try them on as Mitch came out.

‘I’ll let you get sorted,’ he said.

Trying the outfits, Holly concluded that Rita was right, the blue and white dress did suit her the most. It was tight around the chest, so she did not need to wear a bra with it, which was good as Izzy’s smalls were way too small. The straps were adjustable. The dress was loose over her hips and brushed the top of her knees, her own sandals went perfectly.

Mitch’s eyes seemed to open wide when she walked into the main room. ‘That really suits you, Holly.’ He stepped towards her.

Holly flushed hot and her skin tingled, feeling as if she and Mitch were in a bubble. Holly and Mitch, not a Loveland and a Booth. Stepping towards him, she felt as if she had been nudged from behind. He looked down into her eyes and then at her mouth. The kiss started as a gentle brushing of the lips but soon became urgent. She felt his arm come around her waist as she moved closer to him, inching her hands up and underneath his shirt, feeling the strength of his strong back. As the kiss developed, she wanted him, really wanted him.

Mitch pulled away, smiling at her. ‘I’ve wanted to kiss you like that for weeks.’

‘I think we’d better go out for that meal,’ she whispered.

Mitch laughed and stepped back. Taking her hand he led her out of the lodge. Holly smiled as they stepped outside, realising there was no rush, they had all night.
