I smiled.

A handsome and sexy lecturer. He stood at around five-eleven, so he was not the tallest as he leaned casually by the window. His hair looked thick and luscious, but it was the curl that made him so much cuter. He smiled at me and his teeth shone like beacons in a dark sea, with dark skin and the greenest eyes that looked like a perfect emerald, with a slight twinkle in the centre.

I suppose university might actually be fun. Who are you?I looked at my timetable.

Mm. Liam Phillips.

“Sorry I’m late, Mr Phillips,” I said, giving him my best smile, which I’ve been told was pretty spectacular, but to counter that, I’d also been told I didn’t smile enough.

Yep, by my uncle.

But, perhaps, Mr Phillips could change that. Possibly an older man would be good for me, for a short time, just while I worked my life out.

“Lacey Summer,” I said.

He looked at his register and scrunched his nose.

“I’m supposed to start Monday,” I said.

He smiled. One side of his lip rose as his head dipped slightly in a knowing nod. “Ah, Aurora Lace Summer.”

There was a rush of chattering in the class, and I turned to the murmurs for a quick second and they stopped.

“I go by Lacey.”

“No problem, call me Liam.” He smiled back. “Take a seat.”

“Thank you, Liam.” I turned and looked around at the class—shit, it was full. I scanned around each of the desks. Dark and Light Faes sat on either side of the room. The middle rows seemed to separate them. A few people nodded to me as I passed, and I smiled.

A hand rose ahead, and I continued to walk to the palm. Sighing as I passed a smiling Carter. Wondering how we ended up in the same university, never mind the same class. Then I remembered his social-climbing parents were good friends with my uncle.

My bloody uncle, the one who seemed to be hell-bent on ruining my life.

Glancing at the beanie hat-wearing person who showed his hand, I nodded, gave him a little smile and took my seat. I pulled out my notepad and the contract law book.

“Page fifty-two,” the voice next to me said.

“Thank you.” I didn’t see his face. I was too busy staring at the tattoo on his left hand. Knowing it was on his arm and trying to look but be conspicuous was a task. I leaned back in my chair and could now see it and it was beautiful and I wanted to run my fingertips over the golden angel. It looked real, with wings that fluttered, and I balled my hands to keep my itchy, twitching fingers to myself.

I glimpsed the side of his handsome face and saw his blond hair poking out of the side of his hat, probably to hide the messiness if he’d just got out of bed.

He probably had, along with two females, I was sure—he looked the type.

I glanced again, and he looked familiar, with hazel eyes, which contrasted nicely with his hair. A little like mine but it was a brief look, but I think his eyes were greener, while mine more amber. I smiled because he was bloody handsome. He smirked back and my eyes diverted to his kissable full, deep pink lips.

Phew!

Yeah, probably still swollen from his night of bliss.

His face looked surprised at my glimpses and his lips turned up, flashing me a cocky grin. I looked away and drew my attention back to the lecturer at the top of the room.

Yes, back on track, Lacey.

Liam… old enough to be qualified to teach, but still young enough to be the hottest teacher I’d ever seen. I licked my lips, thinking of the challenge because I expect they’d be rules about fraternising with students. But I could only try. Smirking as I flicked a side glance at Carter because maybe revenge with Carter’s hot law lecturer would be sweeter than one of his friends.

And an older man might be just the change I need.

I shook my head to stop me thinking about the lecturer and put my head down to work.
