“Lacey.” I knew it was Carter, the same voice, but deeper. It was coming from my left and I pretended not to hear. “Lacey, I need to speak to you.”

I ignored him again, kept my head down, and got on with my work.

Glancing up, I scrunched my nose when I looked ahead. Carter had crouched in front of my desk. I glared at him.

“Your uncle Clay asked me to look after you,” he said.

“I can look after myself, Carter.”

He pursed his lips at my comment. “If anything weird happens, you need to call me.”

“The only thing weird is we are in the same university.” I rolled my eyes. “Leave me alone.”

“Lacey, I’m sorry. I need to talk to you about us.”

“Too bad, because you could have talked to me before. But oh no, you couldn’t because you were too busy groaning when your cock was down my friend’s throat,” I hissed.

“Lacey, please. It didn’t happen. Clay should have told you everything.”

I laughed and leaned closer to him and whispered, “I tell you what Carter, I’ll let you explain once I’ve had one of your friends give me a massive orgasm with his tongue, and then we’ll chat.”

The man next to me chuckled. “I’ll volunteer,” he said.

I narrowed my eyes and stared at him.

Carter glared and gave him a filthy look. “Kane, you’re not helping.”

“You’ve got to be kidding.”

“Never,” Kane whispered into my ear. I closed my eyes, feeling his warm breath prickle against my neck. The feel of the delicious sizzle of a tingle as it slid down my spine.

What the hell happened there?

“Or maybe I'm more interested in him.” Tilting my head down, looking through my eyelashes to the lecturer who looked our way.

Carter’s head whipped to look at the head of the class.

“Ah, you’d like a daddy figure, Princess,” Kane said, nodding his head to the lecturer.

I sighed at the nickname, and my heart and head dropped at the same time.

“Lacey, we need to talk,” Carter said.

“Go away, Carter,” I hissed.

“Lacey…” Carter whispered.

‘No,’ I said, shaking my head. Carter glared at his friend and crept back to his desk.

I didn’t reply to his friend’s offer, and I didn’t bother to say anything to him for uttering the name my dad called me. I blinked hard, feeling the sting of tears that burned my closed eyelids, swiping my middle finger over a single tear that escaped from the corner.

I sighed because I hated to admit it, but it seemed Clay knew best this time and I regretted stepping into the university today. I should have waited until next week to start. But regret wasn’t really an option. I was here and forced my head down for the rest of the class.

I didn’t look at Liam or the guy next to me, but I did glare at my watch far too many times as I wished for the end of the class. Tapping my pen against my notepad as I pondered my decision.

Next week I’d be ready—not today.

I hung back as everyone rushed out of the room at the end of the lesson. Waiting for Carter and his friend to leave as I slowly put my books in my bag and finally when the class was empty. I took out my mobile and called for a taxi. Strolled to the door and peeked my head into the corridor, ensuring everyone had gone. Which really meant Carter and his friend.
