“Don’t you trust me to get it myself?” I hissed.

“Lacey, don’t start arguing. I want to take you, that’s all.”

I finished washing my hands and dried them on the towel. Had Kane seen my vision and was he now worried I was having second thoughts. “I’ll have a quick shower and get dressed.”

Only thirty minutes later, my breathing was ragged as I stared at the chemist from the seat of Kane’s car. Feeling nausea for having sex once in my life and now having to get something to sort out the mess.

Was it a mess?

“I’ll get it,” Kane murmured as I continued to look at the store.

I put my hand on his arm. “It’s okay.” I sighed and pulled at the handle and opened the door. Turning my back to Kane as I strolled to the pavement and stood and looked inside.

Shit.

I ran to Kane; the window lowered. “Seb and Carter are in there.”

“Get in we’ll go somewhere else.”

I sprinted around to the passenger side of the car and opened the door. Kane turned the key to the ignition, and the engine roared to life.

“Lacey,” a voice shouted, and I knew it was Carter’s.

I turned and looked ahead as Carter walked toward me. He looked from me to Kane and back at me. His eyes narrowed. Over his shoulder, I saw Seb stroll from the chemist and he glanced at the car.

“Get in,” Kane hissed.

Leaning my head into the car. “Kane, I’ll find a chemist.” I rushed out my words. “What are the chances, the first time I’ll get pregnant?”

His face dropped, and his jaw hardened.

I sighed. “Don’t worry, I promise I’ll deal with it. See your friends,” I said. I had to deal with it. Clay would have a fit if the future Queen of the Magical Kingdom got pregnant before she became Queen.

“Looks as though we both have to see them,” Kane said, and I swallowed.

“What are you two up to?” Carter asked.

I watched as Seb followed him as he sauntered toward the car. He gave me a wink and one of his massive smiles. I felt so guilty about what I’d done. Seb had done nothing bad to me, Carter had, but I’d paid him back enough. He just didn’t know about it. Then there was Ryan, but he still wanted his ex-girlfriend and Kane didn’t really even like me.

Maybe he liked me now.

Kane rumbled beside me. I turned to him.

“I’ll sort it. Stop worrying,” I whispered.

I’d messed up terribly. I closed my eyes and tried to wish myself away.

No, I’m still here. Not one of my powers.

I looked back at Seb, and something blocked me from reading his thoughts. Had he worked out a way he could stop me? I looked at Carter and the same.

What happened? Did losing my virginity mean I’d also lost my abilities—my magic?

I’d always known I had telepathy powers. My father started testing me since I was a young girl. He’d ask me to read my mum’s mind. Not that my mother was happy about that. It was one of their big arguments about me.

“I asked Lacey if she wanted to go for a coffee,” Kane finally said.

Carter raised his eyes, and I wasn’t sure he believed him. “Have we all been forgiven or just Kane?”
