Finn got to his feet. There was no point in listening to anymore of his bullshit. “This has nothing to do with me.”

“It has everything to do with you. Now sit the fuck down,” his father bellowed.

“No. I’m done here.” Finn glared at his father and turned away.

“What would happen if Colleen knew?” his father’s voice was low and menacing.

So this was it. His father was going to weaponize Lauren to get to Finn. Adrenaline rushed through his body. No one was going to take away what he and Colleen had found together. Finn spun around.

His father held the glass to his lips, saying through a chuckle, “Now I’ve got your attention, haven’t I?”

“What does that mean?”

He ignored Finn’s question and took a slow sip of water and set his glass down on the table. “You’ve been seeing Colleen Murphy.”

This was an obvious attempt to intimidate him, but Finn refused to back down. “That’s none of your business.”

His father smirked. “I hired a private detective and I know you and Colleen have been hiding at your mother’s house.”

Anger surged through Finn’s body. “We’re not hiding,” he said through gritted teeth.

His father tipped his head to the side, saying in an almost-cheerful voice, “I wonder if Colleen would care about what happened to Lauren? Her father was always so incredibly gullible and eager to please, maybe she might give you a pass. I should pay her a visit and ask her myself.”

Finn lurched for him, grabbing him by the lapels. “Don’t you dare go near Colleen.”

“Get your hands off me,” his father grumbled, gripping Finn’s hands with surprising strength.

Dex rushed through the door. “Everything okay, Mr. O’Connor?”

“It will be.” He brushed away Finn’s hands and adjusted his tie. He gave Dex a nod. “Thank you, Dex. That will be all.”

With a sharp look at Finn, Dex left them alone again.

“What do you really want? You don’t care about me or Colleen.”

Without taking his eyes from Finn’s, his father said, “I want O’Connor Tower back.”

Finn braced his hands on the table and leaned in close to his father’s face. “It doesn’t belong to you.”

“It’s my flagship property.”

“Not anymore.”

“You’ve practically turned it into a charity.” His eyes blazed with anger.

“I’m proud I’ve taken what a dishonorable man created and transformed it into something that does good for others.”

“I’ll give you a nice piece of it,” his father said, his cold gaze fixed on Finn.

Finn lifted his hands from the table and stood back. “You’re not allowed to buy real estate anymore.”

His father’s stern expression transformed into a sly grin. “That’s true. But my wealthy wife can.”

“I don’t care who’s paying for it. My answer is no.”

His father left the booth and stood, rising to his full height.

“We’re done,” Finn said, eyeing his father. “Don’t ever contact me again.”
