“Are you sure?”

I leaned on him, putting my head on his shoulder and nodded.

It’s okay. We all have to grow up and face this. We have to trust that Fate has a plan for all of us—together.

“Okay.” He stood and reached out to help me up. When our fingers linked, I fell into him. “Damn it, what did I do to deserve such a beautiful mate?”

I melted right there into his arms and into our ever-growing bond. This was hard, and we both knew it, but at least Creek and Shane were staying here, facing the battle with me.

Pulling on his shoulders, I made him lean down. Our mouths met in a flurry of passion. It was everything the first kiss had been and so much more.

“Wow. You and I need to be alone, sooner rather than later.” His eyes darted to my cabin. “But not tonight. I won’t force anything or push. You’ve got enough pressure already. But I hope our time is soon. I’m desperate to make you mine.”

Creek cupped my face and completely captured me with those green eyes. I wanted him so badly, my body ached in places I didn’t realize could ache.

“You two gonna make out outside all night, or can we have dinner? I’m starving.”

Shane stuck his head out, and I laughed along with Creek.

Humor was a good way to handle all of this. Much better than avoidance.

I was bitter. Sue me.

And it felt good to have at least two of my mates comfortable with each other. At least for the moment. I couldn’t help but be nervous about going forward.

It was, after all, a very tiny cabin.

“He’s right.” We went inside and, before I could argue, Creek took over my kitchen. He somehow had venison burgers grilling in a cast-iron skillet on the woodstove and had turned my dandelion greens into a salad that put all my other salads to shame.

In minutes, I felt like we were in a restaurant instead of my cabin.

“Gods, you two should’ve hooked up months ago. She’s been putting up with my stew, and by stew, I mean a big burned mess.”

Creek smiled, and he and Shane high-fived while I took a bite of the meat. It was tender and juicy and had the perfect amount of seasoning.

My new mate could cook every damned day of the week if this was how he was going to prepare our meals.

“Damn, this is so good,” Shane groaned.

You two are acquainted from the other pack, right?I scribbled messily, wanting to return my attention to my meal.

My question set them off. The rest of the night was spent with them remembering things and sharing stories. They got along so well. We all lined up and washed the dishes together. I nearly cried at the calmness of it all. It gave me a good look into the future.

A joyous future with my mates.

It seemed so far away and yet was possible.

“Can we address the elephant in the room?” Shane asked, looking at both of us.

“You mean the one about one bed and two mates?”

Gods, they were giving me ideas. Ideas I never thought I’d have. I swallowed and tried to remain calm.

Was that a thing? Having two mates at the same time?

I needed fresh air.

“Jillian, why are you blushing so hard?” Shane ran his thumb across my cheek and smiled. “What are you thinking about?”
