JJ grinned, knowing what was coming. “No, we ain’t gonna take it!” she sang where Callie left off.

The duo turned to Cassie. “We’re not gonna take it anymore!”

Cassie rolled her eyes. “Must’ve been karaoke night in the Kelly house again. You guys are insufferable! I don’t know why I even try.”

JJ smiled. “You sound like Irma. That’s what she’s always telling me.”

“Oh, great. You two have turned me into a sixty-five year old Puerto Rican old lady!”

“Better not let her hear you say that,” JJ replied. “She’s had like fifty fifty birthdays. She’s gonna be fifty forever if she has a choice.”

Cassie laughed. “Well, would youpleasejusttry? For me?”

“Why do you care so much?” JJ asked.

“Yeah, Cassie. Why do you care so much?” Callie added. “You gave up on me alongtime ago. Now I can wear my unisex clothing with pleasure, knowing I won’t have someone muttering how boyish I look. What gives?”

“Yeah. We know somethin’s up,” JJ said.

Cassie huffed. “Fine. I bet your dad that I could get you into at least five cute, girly outfits.”

Callie rolled her eyes. “Why in the heck would you do that?! Have youmetthis kid?” Callie pointed to JJ.

“Hey!” JJ glared at Callie. “I’m notthatbad!”

“How many dresses do you own, kid?” Callie shot back.

JJ frowned and crossed her arms across her chest.

“Well, girly? How many? Hmmmm?” Callie continued.

“Fine!” JJ griped. “I own - one.”

“What was that?” Callie asked. “I couldn’t hear you very well.”

“One! Thatstupidruffly one youmademe wear at your wedding!”

“Aha! I have more dresses than you!” Callie said gleefully.

Cassie interrupted the conversation. “First, you’re acting like a child.”

“Hey!” JJ said. “I am a child!”

“Not you,” Cassie said. “You,” she continued, pointing her finger at her best friend. “Second, you only owntwodresses that I know of, and one of them is yourweddingdress, and that one doesn’t count. So technically, you have the same amount of dresses as JJ does.”

JJ stuck her tongue out at Callie, which Callie returned.

“Really!?”Cassie squeaked. “Are you tworeallyresorting to sticking out your tongues at each other? That’s it, I can’t take it anymore. I’m going shopping. You two can stay here and fight like a couple of toddlers.” Cassie turned on her heel to walk off. Before she got too far, she heard JJ’s voice call out.

“You mean you can’ttake this no more!”

Cassie stopped her stomping and turned around. “What? That’s not correct grammar, kid.”

“It is if you’re Squints Paladoris.”

Cassie couldn’t help but smile. The Sandlot. What a great movie. Thanks to Jamal and JJ, she had now been introduced to another sports movie. One that wasn’t associated with so many bad memories.

“Oh my god, he looks like a dead fish,” Cassie replied.
