When the judge got to the wordslove, cherish and obey,Stormy balked. “Notobey,” she said.

“Right on!” chorused Noreen, Sandy, Thelma, and Janice.

The judge frowned and looked at Tyler with a smile.

“Love and cherish will do,” Tyler said. “She’s not going to listen to me, anyway.”

Next, it was Liane’s turn in family court. Tyler signed her adoption papers, making her Liane Maxwell Mangus. She was offended because she wasn’t asked to sign anything. “I’ve been practicing writing Mangus all week!”

Tyler let her sign his copy beneath his name.

The reception was held at Noreen’s.

Elise caught the bridal bouquet, only to have it snatched away by her mother.

“Don’t even think about it!” Noreen said.

Stormy had a tearful moment when Liane climbed happily into the car with her newly acquired grandparents, who were taking her home with them so that she could meet her new uncle and his family.

“That’s it, folks!” Tyler said, hooking Stormy with his arm and ushering her into his BMW before anyone could stop them.

The next thing Stormy knew, they were in their hotel’s honeymoon suite, and Tyler was undressing her. His tongue flicked into the hollow of her neck. “No kids, no folks, no candles, no Lowery, no interruptions,” he murmured. “I’m in heaven.”

“Do you think Liane will be okay with your parents?”

“They raised me, didn’t they?”

She slid her hands down his hips. “That’s a recommendation?”

“Do we have to talk?” He gently pushed her onto the bed.

“Not if you don’t want to. Can we turn off the light?”

“Not a chance. I want to see every inch of you.” He watched her face as he ran his hands over her skin. “I love you,” he said. “I think I was a goner from the first moment I saw you.”

“Really?” she murmured. “I thought you were dangerous.”

Tyler began to bask in one delicious sensation after another. “Dangerous? Me? I’m a pussycat.”

Naked, solemn, and clear-eyed, she looked up at him. “Put your arms around me, Tyler.”

As he buried himself deep within her, he knew he was never going to turn her loose.

It was hours later that Stormy remembered.

She shook Tyler awake. “What’d the email say, the one you had to read this morning, even though you promised no work this week?”

“Go to sleep,” he mumbled.

Stormy turned on the light and elbowed his chest. “I know it was about the Foleys. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have opened the email. So tell me. Otherwise, I’ll think you already broke a promise to me.”

He opened his eyes a sliver. “I might be persuaded to tell you.”

Stormy straddled him. “Tell me…”

“Foley was bonded while working for Beach Coast. The bonding company is reimbursing my client for the ninety-eight thousand he admitted stealing. The other four thousand or so was chalked up to Wilson.”

“So, what’s going to happen to him?”
