I’d woken up alone,and if the other side of the bed hadn’t been messed up, I would have thought I’d imagined last night. I’d known Dominick had to get up early because he had to meet with Elaine, and it was kind of a relief to be by myself.
The sex…the sex had been…I didn’t even have the words.The best I’ve everhad, came to mind, but that sounded cheesy.
It didn’t really matter because it couldn’t happen again. I knew Dominick had said he didn’t have a girlfriend, but obviously, something was going on with him and Gina. And the guilt was really messing with me.
Also, we hadn’t used a condom last night…again. Not only had I had to change my sheets before work, but I also had to talk to Dominick about STIs. And Gina. She deserved to know her partner was having unprotected sex.
I sighed as I sat back in my chair.
Currently, I was hiding out in my office, not wanting to face anyone, but I didn’t have a choice.
There was a knock at my door.
“Come in,” I said.
Amanda popped her head in. “Dominick Reyes is here to see you again.”
“Let him in. Thanks.”
Amanda stepped aside, let Dominick enter, and shut the door behind her as she left.
“Hey,” he said and smiled at me. It was casual, but I saw a little smirk too. One that said,I remember every dirty thing I did to you last night, and I know you remember it too.
I had to look away before my body took over my brain, and that was when I noticed he was wearing another suit. This one was blue and looked just as good on him.
What is a welder doing with so many suits? It’s not fair.
I pinched the bridge of my nose and closed my eyes. I needed to create some boundaries with this man. I couldn’t go on like this. I couldn’t share him with anyone, but I couldn’t take him away from anyone either.
“You okay, babe?” Dominick asked.
“No.” I dropped my hand on my desk and looked up. “Dominick—”
There was another knock at my door, and this time, it opened without anyone waiting for me to say something.
“Is Dominick in here?” Elaine asked, looking around. “Oh.” She laughed when she saw him and stepped farther inside. “Are you ready to go?”
He nodded. “Yeah. I was just making sure that Vivian was going to be there.” His look of expectation reminded me of a little boy who was afraid he was going to be disappointed again.
I didn’t know why he wanted me to be there so badly, but I didn’t have it in me to tell him no. Besides, there wouldn’t be any sex in a courtroom full of people. I’d be safe from getting naked with him for a while.
“Yes, I’ll be there. I’ll head over soon.”
Dominick followed Elaine out, and I knew I had to leave soon too.
