Chapter Thirty-Three

Dylan

I can’t believe how much my life has changed in the last twenty-four hours, but holy shit if it isn’t the best change ever I think as the guys all come over to congratulate us.

“Well fuck, you sure didn’t waste any time,” Jack says, laughing as he slaps me on the back.

The grin on my face only gets bigger as I say, “Clearly I’m just that potent.”

“Ewww,” he says, scrunching up his face. “Do not say that, fucking gross!”

Tommy is laughing as he also offers his congratulations. “Nice one, man, I’m really happy for you.”

“Thanks,” I say, shaking his outstretched hand. “I’m so fucking excited.”

We spend a few minutes chatting, but eventually we all need to get back to work, so I pull Tess close, giving her a lingering kiss. “I’ll see you for lunch?”

Tess wraps her arms around my waist, leaning back a little as she looks up at me. “Sounds good,” she says, smiling. “Midday?”

“Yep,” I tell her, kissing her again. “Be careful today,” I whisper, my lips against hers.

Tess’s hands slide into the back pockets of my jeans. “Be careful?”

“Yeah,” I say, resting a hand on her stomach. “You’re pregnant, babe, so you know…” I trail off, giving her a shrug, because actually, I have no clue. I mean yeah, I’ve been googling shit, but most of that has been centered around sex and pregnancy. Not much else on what pregnant women can and can’t do outside of the bedroom.

She giggles now, resting her hand on my cheek. “I’ll be fine, Dylan,” she murmurs. “If you can fuck me like you did this morning, I can definitely do my job.”

I turn, kissing her palm. “It was good, wasn’t it?” I ask, giving her a cheeky grin.

“It’s always good with you,” she says, a soft smile on her face.

Chuckling, I lean in and kiss the end of her nose. “In that case, be prepared to be knocked up for the rest of your life, baby, cause I’m gonna make sure it always stays that way.”

Laughing, she pushes up on her toes to kiss me. “Sounds good. See you at lunch.”

The morning passes quickly, my time filled with the cider bottling at Apple Jacks and adding to the rapidly expanding list I’ve created on my phone. I’ve got a million things running through my head and I don’t want to forget any of them.

When lunchtime finally rolls around, I walk into the restaurant area to find Tessa already waiting in our usual booth.

“Hey, babe,” I say, giving her a quick kiss as I slide into the bench seat opposite her, opening up the notes app on my phone. “Okay, so I’ve made a list and here’s where we’re at. After work, we’ll swing by your place and pack up some of your stuff and you can move into my place today. You have a key and there’s the second parking spot, so we’re all set on that side of things. We can do a full move this weekend and then after that we should rent your place out. Be a nice source of income for us, not that we need it or whatever. Then tonight, my parents are coming for dinner. You should invite yours and we can do two birds, one stone or whatever with our announcements. I didn’t invite—”

“Whoa, wait, what did you say?” Tessa suddenly says, cutting me off.

I glance up to find Tessa looking across at me, her eyes wide and her mouth open in a small O as she stares across the table at me. “Which part?” I ask, confused.

“Umm,” she says, waving a hand around. “All of it? Moving in, meeting each other’s parents? Tonight!”

I grin. “What’s the problem, babe? We’re having a baby, this is all part of it.”

“Yeah, but…I mean, tonight? Now? We’re only just…”

Her sudden nervousness makes me laugh as I reach across the table for her hand. “Baby, are you nervous?”

“About meeting your parents?” she asks, eyes wide. “Hell yes!”

“Why?”

Tessa shrugs as she replies, “I don’t know, because it’s so fast and we’re going to drop a huge bomb on them and holy shit, what if they don’t like me?”
