She smiles, pulling my hand from between her legs and lifting it to her mouth where she kisses my palm. “You’re amazing, you know that right?” she says, her tone serious as her gaze locks with mine.

I smile, leaning close to brush a soft kiss against her lips. “Love you,” I murmur. “Now let’s eat quick so we can sneak off somewhere for a quickie after.”

“Babe, leave the heavy shit,” I shout, hoisting a box onto my shoulder.

Tessa rolls her eyes at me as she ignores my warning and picks up a bag. “Dylan, it’s fine, seriously.”

“No, it’s not,” I say, walking over and taking the bag from her hand. “I did some more googling you know and you gotta be careful lifting heavy shit.”

She laughs, smacking me on the ass. “Yeah when I’m like eight months along or whatever, not now.”

“Whatever,” I say, throwing her a quick glance over my shoulder as we take the stairs to what is now our place. “I’m not taking any chances, so don’t even bother trying to argue with me.”

Tess follows behind me, smacking me on the ass again as she puts her mouth to my ear. “Why, you gonna get all pissy and tell me off if I do?” she whispers.

I walk into the living area, dropping the box and bag on the floor. “Yep, sure am,” I say with a nod.

Tess smirks, stepping closer as she slips her arms around my waist. “Well, in that case, I may just keep doing it, because seeing you all protective and bossy and shit is a little bit of a turn on, Dylan.”

I grin, sliding my hands under her t-shirt to cup her breasts. “Is that right?” I ask, my fingers teasing her nipples. “Just a little bit of a turn on?”

Tess groans, her head falling back as I lower my mouth to her neck, licking and sucking the skin. “Yep,” she murmurs.

“Tease,” I whisper against her skin, kissing a path to her mouth. “I think I might need to remind you what the consequences of that are.”

“Yes,” she breathes out, her hand moving to cup my dick. “Please—”

“Hello!?”

The sound of my mom’s voice echoing up the stairs has Tess jumping away from me, her eyes wide and her cheeks flushed. I burst out laughing, readjusting myself as I step closer and straighten her t-shirt before throwing an arm around her shoulder.

“Game time,” I whisper, kissing the top of her head.

Mom and Dad step through the still open doorway, smiles on their faces that only get wider when they see me and Tessa standing together.

“Hey, Mom, Dad,” I say, squeezing Tessa’s shoulder. “So, you guys remember Tessa Kramer, she played volleyball with Han? Well, she and I are together, and she’s just moved in with me. Babe, these are my parents, Sarah and Brian Murphy.”

Both my parents freeze where they stand, their eyes wide, even with the smiles still plastered on their faces. It’s kind of funny seeing their reaction and I’m sure it’s the last thing they were expecting when I invited them to dinner tonight.

Laughing, I step toward my mom and give her a quick hug. “Okay, seriously, don’t act so surprised. I love her, we’ve been together for a few months now, it’s great.” I hug my dad next before turning back to Tess, whose expression pretty much mirrors my parents’. I widen my eyes at her and she shakes her head a little.

“Hi, lovely to meet you again,” she says, stepping toward them, her hand out.

My mom suddenly snaps out of whatever trance my announcement put her in, clapping her hands as she practically squeals with delight, pulling Tessa into a hug. “Tessa, oh my goodness, it’s so good to see you again!” she says. “And you and Dylan? That’s fantastic!”

I glance at my dad, who’s grinning as he gives me a quick wink before also embracing Tessa. Just as she steps back, Hannah appears in the doorway and says, “Okay, what the hell is going on here?”

Laughing, I give my sister a quick hug as I say, “Tessa has moved in with me.”

Hannah’s eyes widen as she looks from me to Tess and then the large living room windows that overlook Napa. “Shit, I mean I can’t see any flying pigs, but I’m guessing hell sure has frozen over.”

“Fuck off,” I say, laughing as I give her a soft punch on the arm. “We’re in love, this is the next step.”

Hannah throws her head back, laughing as she turns to Tessa and says, “Man, Tessa, I don’t know what you’ve done to him, but you must be like seriously fucking talented.”

“Hannah,” my mom playfully scolds, moving to take Tessa’s hand. “Stop teasing them, we always knew Dylan would grow up eventually.”

“Hey!” I say, hands on my hips. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Mom and Dad both laugh, sharing a look with my sister that I don’t understand. Just as I’m about to ask what’s going on, an older man and woman appear at the top of the stairs, cautious looks on their faces as they say, “Hello?” as though they aren’t sure they’re in the right place.

“Mom, Dad,” Tessa says, giving me a quick look before stepping toward them.

Showtime!
